I'll give you the background to my top ten
10 PFM Cook I discovered PFM on the BBC, that great british show The Old Gray Whistle test, they were playing songs from their Chocolate kings album and did a track called celebration, which I loved the same week I bought Cook, I love the energy and spontinaity on this album, the album has been re released and with extra tracks, I bought this in 1976 and still play it regular today,
9.RickWakeman Journey To The Center of the Earth, A big fan of Yes and a big fan of Wakeman, bought Henry the year it came out, an album that takes you on A fantastic journey, I plan to vist Iceland soon a find that volcano, some dazziling keyboads the solo's on the battle and final section are jawdropping, saw him live in 1977 with his band, great story's inbetween numbers was 16 at the time, great muzo and his best work.
8.Heavy Horses Jethro Tull, the best Tull album out there, I dont like anything they did after the 1980's, everytrack is a jem with green issues forwaded then, the tiltle track is the best work tull ever did, I bought this the year of its release 78 I think, never saw them live, but this was a golden period.
7.Rush 2112 Their best work, I love prog but I love heavy Rock as well, this album was a combination of the 2, Hemisphers was the first album I bought, then this, the opus 2112 is just stunning, no wonder it was a make or break album, used to play this to my mates all were impressed and all went out to buy it.
6.Hybris Anglagard. Think I've spelt the bands name right, Disscovered this band last year although the album been out many years, mostly an instrumental band this symphonic Prog feast is just glorious, you would never tire of it, I love this band and hope they tour GB soon.
5. Emerson lake Palmer Trilogy Bought this about three years on from its release date , Pictures was first then this, fantastic keyboards, lovely vocal and drums on speed, ELP were about making dramatic music this is no exception, did finally get to see them at the royal albert hall 92, but their music was so energetic back in the 70's, I'm afraid that was lacking.
4. Houses Of The Holy Led Zeppelin These giants of rock had to be in there, this album I heared in 73, and fell in love with No Quarter that track is mesmeric, and the rest of the album is top notch each and every track, so a big thank you to my sister who brought that album home.
