Unfortunately from Germany I'd get stung for tax & the exorbitant tax gathering fee (the joy of Brexit) ! But I did notice there will be a 4k version on BD I'll watch out for in the UK
Edit: The BD and Ultra BD are being released in the UK on 23 December, so I know what I want for Xmas!

duuude, saw The Eternals yesterday with my 89 year old Dad(last time we had been to the movies was 1973-74) and he loved it! He also freaked out at how loud it was!!!
Great sound FX and 7.1 mix too...also a lot of fun hearing PFloyd's "Time" in MCH at the movies...

Took advantage of Vinegar Syndromes Black Friday sale and probably ordered the most ECLECTIC batch of films EVER! Not everything was 50% off [especially the latest UHD4K discs] but all in all I'm happy with my purchase. Andy Warhol's Flesh for Frankenstein [actually directed by Paul Morrissey] has been newly remastered in 4K from the original camera negative and also includes the film in 3D for the first time since it's 1974 release. Another UHD4K 2 disc set was Scanner Cop 1 & 2 [50% off] which was loosely based on Cronenberg's original classic Scanners and was VERY favorably reviewed at Highdefdigest.....Sale price was $40 for the set and a check at ebay had the pair going for over $100 with postage/tax. Another well reviewed X rated classic [blu.ray.com gave it 4 stars and 5 for the UHD4K Native disc] @ 50% off is SEXWORLD of course a rip off of WESTWORLD, an 80's cult classic Liquid Sky which you either love or HATE,
Another cult favorite FADE to Black with Dennis Christopher who of course was delightful in Breaking Away and finally The Lamp another well reviewed BD~V from blu.ray.com.

Almost all were scanned in 4K from the original camera negatives. S/H was $6 for the lot and Vinegar Syndrome did NOT charge me sales tax which I figured would've been an additional $15.

Am I right in thinking this thread has become the unofficial QQ film (and TV) thread regardless of surround activity? I've just bought my first OLED TV there, which should arrive on Thursday, so I reckon I'll be watching film and TV a fair bit over the next while; I hardly ever watch terrestrial broadcasts so my content will be blu ray and DVDs.

I've got about 30 blu ray films (a lot more if you count the James Bond Collection), plus and I've quite a few TV box sets featuring the usuals such as Sopranos, Band of Brothers, Game of Thrones etc.

Anyway, I haven't really paid that much attention to the surround content of the stuff I watch as the front speakers in my 4.0 setup work wonders with film and TV content as well as music. I guess I'm saying I'm gonna start following this thread with more interest from now on

WELCOME ABOARD, DEREK. The More the Merrier. Those OLED sets are REMARKABLE and hopefully you'll also get on the 4K bandwagon as the 4K players also UPSAMPLE 1080p Video as well as DVDs.

I can't wait to get my LG OLED55C1 up and running as my old Sony 55" LCD packed in a few weeks ago and I've been slumming since with a 32" Sony LCD that's at least 10 years old... the horror, the horror. Who knows, I may end up buying a 4k player as well, for although my OPPO 103D, Marantz AVR and LG TV can all upscale to 4k, I expect a proper 4k release would look a fair bit better. But that's a consideration for another time. First, I want to start watching stuff.

My experience so far with 4k is that sweeping epics (Lord Of The Rings) look great, as do really dark movies (Pitch Black, Blade).
Some of the others I own have no cause to be upgraded from br (Groundhog Day) unless you get them for a good price.

Stanley Kubrick's A CLOCKWORK ORANGE [Warner Brothers/NATIVE UHD4K/HDR10/DTS~HD MA 5.1/DD 2.0 MONO] While not as spectacular a remaster as the Native UHD4K 2001: A Space Odyssey, it far exceeds WB's older BD~V and despite what blu.ray.com said about the DTS HD 5.1 remaster, it really did open up the soundfield immeasurably and had no signs of distortion or sibilance as incorrectly stated in their review. Buy with CONFIDENCE!

I'm beginning to realize that......I do like the Digital Bits reviews better. Sounds like the blu ray.com reviewer blew out his speakers! Clockwork actually has a very nice immersive soundfield and some respectable bass!
