I've finally gotten around to watching Scorsese's The Irishman. The mix is actually pretty tame, but there's a pay-off. The soundtrack was composed by Robbie Robertson and during the end titles, the music get's a gloriously discrete workout like some legacy Quads did back in the day. Check-it out!

I've just finished watching The Grey Man by Anthony and Joe Russo. Silver Bird by Mark Lindsay is featured twice. Once somewhere in the film and thr second time during the end titles. I was shocked by the discrete mix. It was either a Quad mix or a really, really good upmix.

I watched Russian Ark (2002) Russian Ark Blu-ray (Русский ковчег / Russkiy kovcheg) again a few nights ago and neglected to include it in my "meditative flicks" recommendations which is remiss of me, especially considering how it's one of my faves. One 90-minute take, 3,000 extras, a gem. Audio is only stereo but crank it up with DTS Neural X or whatever it's called and let it work its magic.

As you've already seen After Yang, I'm assuming you've already seen Kogonada's previous flick Columbus (2017).: Columbus Blu-ray (Blu-ray + DVD) (United Kingdom) but if not, check it out as it meets the criteria. Haley Lu Richardson is a little mystery.

Really looking forward to the 4K UHD of The Firm (1993); I was living in Cayman when it was filmed there, many filming locations don’t exist today due to developments (Holiday Inn is now Ritz-Carlton) or weather (Hyatt was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004).

Great cast, cinematography, story and score. Holds up well to repeat viewings.

June 28 release, Paramount.
