Currently available [but out of stock at their website] director Michael Mann's cult classic THE KEEP [Native UHD4K from the OCN/HDR10/Dolby Vision/DTS~HD MA Stereo with music by Tangerine Dream]

Michael Mann's The Keep (4K UHD)'s The Keep (4K UHD)
I've never seen this but heard it's a spectacular-looking dud but still have been keen on checking it out for years. I only heard of the VS 4K release after it had sold out in a few hours but the good news is that there's an Imprint 4K on the way (the bad news is that it'll probably be very expensive and full of paper stock so waiting for a barebones release is probably what I'll end up doing).

Unfortunately, Mann's original cut of The Keep ran over 3 hours and the studio butchered it to death. How frustrating!

Hopefully, Vinegar Syndrome will order a represst! Even their super deluxe 4K version sold out.

Cool. Hopefully these releases might fund a restoration of the whole she-bang! Might hold off the purchase.
Stranger things have happened but such a restoration would probably preclude the major expense in locating all the materials necessary [over 2 hours] to make it whole again

BTW, watched the NEW Kino Lorber 4K restoration of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and was disappointed with the inappropriate jazzy soundtrack they chose to accompany that version. The accompanying blu ray includes a lossy [DD 2.0 stereo] but more effective D J Spooky soundtrack which decodes well via my pre/pro's DSP PLII Music mode. But the 4K does look better than the BD~V...as it hopefully should!

Yeah, it's weird when there's a wildly inappropriate score to a movie eh? Panic in Year Zero! (1962) is one that springs to mind that also had a jazzy score. There's some tension building on screen and then the music kicks in and you're like, "what?"!

Not exactly a BF special but I bought a copy of the Bowie doc Moonage Daydream in a 4K plus bluray package. There is an Atmos mix so I will check it out and listen to two hours of his music in surround. This is the Criterion edition.

Jeffie, here's the blu~ray.com review. Although I'm a huge Bowie fanboy, I was less than thrilled with this doc. Better open it fast because a lot of AmazonUS reviewers said the Criterion disc is defective

Thanks Mr buzzkiller 4 ears.......lol
I thought the defects were the bluray.
Ill watch this weekend and hope for the best otherwise back it goes.
Kind of disappointing if the filmmaker had access to first class materials and didn't do a good job with them...

I thought it was pretty good. It’s more akin to Koyaanisqatsi than a traditional documentary. Rather than nailing down specifics, it’s more of a kaleidoscope of images and performances and interviews from Bowie’s life, with the occasional song and/or interview snippet thrown in.

If you’re looking for specifics then I could see how it’s disappointing, but if you want a kind of view into what made Bowie tick then I think it works.

I also think the Atmos on that Criterion release is pretty darn good.
