Thanks to GOS' Christmas BLOW OUT SALE, I picked up this 'artifact' from RCA/SONY: 3 superbly remastered RBCDs and a 1080p BD~V chronicling the King's LIVE 1973 concert event filmed in Honolulu which was at the time broadcast live via satellite throughout the world [supposedly over a billion people watched]. Also comes with a nice glossy booklet!
I did watch the LIVE CONCERT itself [1'4"] on my SONY laser projector played through my OPPO 205 and was pleasantly surprised at how vivid the actual concert looked considering it was shot on video in 1973. Close ups were superb but medium shots were a bit fuzzy. As for the sound.....Have to say it really sounded excellent. I listened in LPCM 5.1 16b/48kHz and Elvis' powerful vocals and his crackerjack back up singers/orchestra sounded pretty amazing. Don't expect discrete sonics ... mostly ambience/crowd noises in side/surround channels!
Additionally, the BD~V also contains rehearsal footage and some bonus tracks which I've yet to fully watch.
All in All, even though I'm not a massive Elvis fanboy, for the 12 bucks which GOS charged me for the box set ...... highly recommended and glad to finally have it in a higher res format!
