Clint - you are right....you see why I was inspired. That album art is just too good. I remember all that from the album I "used" to have. So cool.

Is that Mick Fleetwood WITH A PERM!!! in those shots?

You mean Lindsey Buckingham

Thanks! I've been looking around comparing prices. Unfortunately, with the Yen being so weak at the moment, that amazonUK low price becomes slightly more expensive than I can get it here.
Ho-hum... The search goes on. :ebay

Same situation here.
The Canadian dollar has dropped 20% over the last year and a half making purchases from the UK, and especially the US, prohibitive

I'd really love the 5.1 of this but refuse to buy the deluxe box
Why can't they offer it on BluRay ?

A question we've ALL been asking for YEARS. I reluctantly did buy the TUSK boxset at a 'reasonable' price from AmazonUK ($62 delivered to the US) and JUST finally received the DSOTM Immersion box set (replete with marbles, scarf and coasters) JUST for the Alan Parsons 4.0 mix in 96/24.

Will Warners EVER release the stand~a~lone TUSK 5.1 in HI RES 96/24 on BD~A?

Yeah, probably when HELL freezes OVER!

Ironically, the Aqualung Boxset is now commanding $155 (+ tax for NY residents) @ AmazonUS (I paid $64 delivered used in mint condition). So, the chance one must take: will these sets escalate in price once they go OOP and become unbearably expensive? The $64,000 Question!

It certainly was a disappointment for the Eagles to not release it on blu ray...only on DVD...much like The Dance never made it to blu ray..of course the Farewell Tour in Melbourne is outstanding(y)

OK - I just had to double check. I mean, I realize I was probably reacting to the 5.1 TUSK in a manner that is not in the best interest of commenting. Brand new, high expectations...and all that.

So, listening to it again tonight. I hate to say this, but I was wrong. It's even better than I thought. :) :)

For those of you who don't have this yet....put your seat belts on. It's that good. Ah.....nice. Smooth, excellent.

Mrs GOS is gone, and I'm turning it up - just outstanding fidelity. Well worth the box set cost, IMO.

There's a very obvious reason for that, which is that the picture quality of both of those concert films would not be substantially improved at all by a Blu-Ray release. The sound on the other hand probably would, but labels still have enough concert films shot on HD video to bring to Blu-Ray that they have not already.

What's that you say? This thread is about "Tusk"? Oh yes, sorry, better get back on-topic! I echo GOS' call to action for a poll thread to be made! :)

I think it should be pretty obvious to all of us now that two out of the three major labels (Sony and Warner Music) do not want to invest the necessary time and expense to release Blu-Ray audio discs. The additional authoring and manufacturing costs associated with Blu-Ray are simply not worth their while when they can do it a lot more cheaply on DVD-V or DVD-A/V.
Once again, however, like "Premonitions" and "Loaded", there was still plenty of available space on the "Tusk" DVD to make it a proper DVD-A/V disc with high-resolution 5.1 surround. The reasons why they didn't are probably all down to ignorance, apathy, laziness, and more. ******* bean-counters...

WB/Rhino has seemed to disassociate itself COMPLETELY from the DVD-A format. Although all they had to do was put the HiRez tracks in the AUDIO_TS folder of many of their post-2008 releases, they seem to refuse to take the step (back). Instead, we've gotten the "Super Saturated DVD", the "MVI Disc", and the current DVD-V with the 5.1 in the VIDEO_TS section.

It's just like Sony abandoning SACD. With no clear cut winner in that format war, both labels completely gave up on what they had been championing earlier on, rather than find a way to continue to bring out the best qualities of those formats and use them to the labels advantage with other dynamite releases. But hey, we all know there are many individuals in both of those labels who are saying, "Who gives a crap what format it's on? Just put it out as cheaply as possible. They'll buy it."

And ironically, Jon, Warners/Rhino put out by far THE BEST DVD~As on the market, IMHO! fredblue and I have been pining for years for them to release ALL the wonderful titles that were already prepared but not released when Warners pulled the plug on DVD~A and I am hoping and praying that someone (hint Audio Fidelity) releases the 'potentially' outstanding but in serious need of a FULL Hi Res SACD upgrade, release of Chicago Transit Authority which Rhino released a few years ago as a DVD~V DTS 4.0 and is sadly OOP! MoFi's Stereo SACD while great only hints at what this wildly discrete 4.0 release potentially has in store.

Maybe once MOFI's license on the title expires, Audio Fidelity can move in and do a Quad SACD themselves, but they will only do it if they feel like they can make enough of a profit on it from both Quad and SACD fans to make a release worthwhile. (Not to mention that they also need the label to issue them a license in order for a release to happen, and we all know how finicky labels can be when it comes to licensing out their catalogues to others.)

But getting back a little more on-topic, I would not be surprised at all if we continue to see a slow drip of those unreleased 5.1 mixes from the Warner/Rhino vaults like we have seen with titles like "Tusk" and "Moondance".
