haha - this post made me realize that I've NEVER Listened to anything except the 5.1 and the vinyl. Unfortunately, the vinyl has horrible surface noise...which really disappointed me. The 5.1 is nice of course.

Never even BOTHERED with the new LP pressings..thanks for the heads up...(That's cause I have TWO, count them, TWO copies on LP from back than that are MIN TY!!!!)

Unusual recording, very distant sounding but very smooth and analog. So hard to put into descriptive words what the tech (DTS 24/96) brings but it definitely has an influence.

DTS 24/96 definately smoothes out the sound so less brightness or harshness like Dolby yet makes it a little more muddy which makes sense if viewed on a scale of bright/sharp----->smooth/full/round.
I mean everything's gotta fall somewhere in the middle right?
