AFD was scheduled for release as a Blu-Ray Audio in 2012 but pulled- would have been stereo only.

I suspect this might be new, though. Who knows, but for the longest time Axl wanted to obliterate this album, including re-recording it with his new ensemble, disparaging it to the media, and trying to move in a different musical direction. Obviously Universal Music had zero interest in a re-record of AFD (and was generally less than pleased with most of his stunts), but it's hard to imagine calling Scheiner in unless there seemed a likelihood of getting band approval - something very unlikely until 2016. And remember that they missed the 30th Anniversary last year, when it would be logical to release this - I'm guessing the wheels started turning when they reunited.

Hmmm...I don't know about some of what you've posted here. Axl did re-record Appetite, but that was more to bring his new band at the time up to speed with the spirit of old GN'R in order for them to move forward on new recordings. There was some idle speculation about commercial release, but I don't think that was every seriously considered other than "Paradise City" in Big Daddy and there was a controversy regarding a re-record of "Jungle" in Black Hawk Down that didn't happen.
I've never read anything about Axl want to "obliterate" Appetite. Quite the opposite. He and Izzy refused to do any commercial licensing to advertising, movies, etc. for the longest time. To me, that's good care taking of the GN'R mystique. Axl did want to distance himself from the old lineup and focus media attention on his new music, but then new music took so verrrrry long to materialize, but that's whole other story.

July 3rd delivery date from ImportCD's.....doesn't really matter I guess. I will be working non stop up to, and including July 4th. Ugh.....damn new job blows....

"Additionally, Elliot just finished mixing Guns N’ Roses Appetite for Destruction in 5.1 surround sound for their fantastical box set version due 29 June 2018."

Found this HERE . Scheiners agent??

A HA....thanks for the clarification. So Elliot Scheiner's back in business. Hip, Hip, Hooray:SB

And Bless Axl's pointed little head for coaxing ES out of retirement.:QQlove

And Bless Slash.....well, just for being SLASH!:SG

Its just been delivered, about to give it a spin. So after a bit of fighting with the latest windows Image editor here is the info on the audio tracks on the Blu-Ray. So it was mixed into 5.1 in September 2017 by ES, and by others this year.

First listen and I love it :SB, some good old fashioned ROCK in 5.1! :danceFront is mostly drums, vocals, rhythm guitar, Bass, with support vocals & guitars in the rear. Nothing exclusively though, each track is mixed slightly differently. What it makes me realise is how layered the original album was, lots of over-dubs, multi-tracking of instruments. It really opens the album up. A good :51QQ Fidelity is really good, and a couple of places where it sounds 'harsh' has to be down to what was recorded to tape originally.

 Well the animation with the audio isn't something to show your Daughter/Wife/Mother/Grandmother.....................unless you're brave! especially Track 11 (the G'n'R Karma Sutra!), but if you do, definitely expect a SLAP!

Went out to eat and when I turned down my street on my way home an Oops truck was leaving my street and lo and behold there was an Amerzon box was sittin' on my front porch and guess what it was...yeppers it was indeed my very own...MotherEffen GN'R - Appetite For Destruction Blu-ray Super Deluxe Edition MotherEffers!!!

Now playing: Rocket Queen

Initial first thoughts and impression........................................when do we get Use Your Illusion I and II in surround??????????????????

I had to show the lady of the house the unpacking video of the Locked n' Loaded $1k box set. Just because it was so audacious and decadent IMHO.

She agreed to my suggestion that it is way over the top, but to my surprise, and regardless of the high cost, she thought it was way cool and actually wants one. Now,... I seriously doubt she's gonna pony up a grand to get it, and I know I'm not gonna, (that's just crazy talk)..

Anyway I thought there was an interesting contrast regarding our separate takes about it. I'm looking at the $100+ digital set thinking I'm not willing to pay that because I only care about the 5.1. And she's down for paying $1k for what, in her eyes, is a work of art and an heirloom to be handed down. I think it was the hologram vinyl that really pushed her over the cliff. She is 10 years my junior and GNR was likely more mainstream for her, so I can understand.

But, of course, she could care less about a 5.1 mix.

Cost wise, $100 for the digital GNR falls into Beatles budget territory for me. The most extravagant sets I own are Chicago Quadio, PF Wish You Were Here immersion (a gift) and the Sgt Pepper set.

And where the hell would I store that GNR LNL set. It brings new meaning to the term "box set"... I mean, It's a friggim BOX... WITH DOORS.

Hell, even if I did buy it, I wouldn't want to open it for fear of diminishing its value. I'm gonna find it interesting to see what happens with these LNL sets going forward. If they sell out quickly, if they start bringing crazy prices on the aftermarket. These could be a great investment.

...but then I had to tell her, and I'm fessing up here to all of you as well.

I've never owned this record in any format.:eek::eek:

There. I said it. Of course, I do know a lot of the tracks. How could you miss em, especially if you grew up in the USA.

After she settled down a bit following the amusement and disbelief this disclosure elicited, she proceeded to made me feel even more inadequate by reminding me that I also never owned any AC/DC, a fact she had determined a few months earlier.

I was music shamed.....:cry::cry::cry:

We'll most probably get USE YOUR ILLUSION I and II when baseball season is over and Elliot Scheiner, a HUGE baseball fanatic, has the time and ENERGY and also contingent upon how well Appetite for Destruction sells. Remember, the music biz is now controlled by Accountants and Lawyers.....so NO tickee...NO washee! https://img0.etsystatic.com/020/0/5213038/il_570xN.565517910_naeb.jpg

Snood got his today and it showed up all pretty and unbent despite the tight box from Amerzon - all the discs slid out unscratched under light. :rocks

Ripping right now and will listen to tonight or tomorrow:51QQ

Had to return me recent Barclay James Harvest Box because 2 of the discs had slid out and were bouncing off each other trying to make CD babies or something the whole trip to Snood's door. Grrrrrrr - got a good replacement though :LB
