Not so sure Frank worked directly with ES tho, the track listing shows individually who did which 5.1 mixes and lists ES as doing the entire album plus Patience while Frank is credited wtih Shadow of your Love, Used To Love Her, You're Crazy and Move to the City (acoustic). If it was a 2018 mix, wouldn't ES have been involved with the new track too? But it's just credited to Frank.

I think it sounds real good, nice animations too. Maybe a little front heavy.

thanks for the scoop info! (y)

does the 5.1 sound loud or bright to you at all.?

how do Frank Filipetti's surround mixes compare to those of Elliot Scheiner's of the main album?

front heavy.. jeez, I hope Mr.Scheiner wasn't leant on to tame his mix!

Adam...ES did the entire "main album'...Frank did some of the extras....but now that I'm reading your post....maybe you knew that...I don't think he's got to the extras yet..

I've just finished listening to the album.Don't have time for the bonus songs now.Overall I'm very pleased with the mix, some nice guitars in the rears.Bass and snare loud and clear.I don't think it's loud or bright, but my ears are old;)
Nice skeleton animations for each song,a little cheesy for the last 2-3 songs, but overall good looking.

I gave it a first listen too when I came home.
The surround mix is very good, bit surely not a new mix. It is a little bit bright on cymbals and hihat, but overall I would give it a 9.
But I will listen again over the weekend.

Had no time to check the bonus songs.

I'm curious....what makes you think this isn't a recent mix?..I say this because ES is "old school" and I'm not sure someone could detect a "stylistic" approach with him that is different that it was 15 years ago...

Maybe I am imagining this, but it seems to me that Scheiner’s more recent mixes have greater, more prominent use of the center channel for lead vocals as compared to his older mixes.

Interesting...I'd say just the opposite. His really early mixes (Gaucho DTS-CD, Eagles' Hell Freezes Over DTS-CD/DVD-V) have much more center channel emphasis than later efforts. In fact, I think Becker & Fagen made him rework Gaucho slightly for SACD/DVD-A because of this.
