How are you streaming 5.1 FLAC to your home theater?

On my Nvidia Shield TV, Plex and Jellyfin both only play FLAC 5.1 in stereo, (downmixed). DDP Atmos plays 5.1 in Jellyfin but Plex converts all music to stereo. I ticked the box in Jellyfin to use external player but I did not get any options when I did that, (I have VLC installed). I would love an app on my Android TV that can stream my multichannel music from off site. (I keep my server at work 😉)
Please help,

Before it died, I was streaming from my drobo 5N NAS through my Oppo 105. FLAC 5.1 works perfectly. I could also use my Roku Ultra. Slightly different user interface and feature set.

Looking forward to seeing what gives with HomerJAU’s little box - that seems like it’s going to be fun.

Was this from a remote server? Over internet? My server is offsite.

It's on my home domain. I'm pretty rusty on enterprise (domain-to-domain) networking, not that I was ever well-oiled, but you might try plugging in the IP address of your server into your player and see what happens. There may be subnet mask issues you will need to overcome, and like I noted, it's not one of my strong suits.
