The warm up tune really gets going and bopping along later on; but what really intrigues me is the horn way in the background at the beginning, with a mournful and hauntingly evocative wail from a band holed up waiting for their leader. I’ve always felt a modern band should take that, expand it and arrange it with more horns joining in.

Not sure but it's pretty loud & the bass is boosted. "24 bit remaster 2005" I would guess a DR of 9.
I prefer my vinyl version but it's worn out.
