yes i'm pretty sure that's what it's aboutHuh! I wonder if this is a prelude, between this and the Mercedes Benz, that Apple might somehow deliver surround through CarPlay
This playlist has Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” although the song is not in Atmos for me. Can someone else check (maybe it’s a geographic thing)?
I'm hopeful that that eventually there will be other options for Spatial Audio in cars beyond Mercedes. However, if it is generally available through CarPlay without the proper hardware I'm not confident that it will be well implemented.Huh! Not a Harry Styles fan, but I'll join you in considering Wet Leg a worthy contender. Little Simz has been toiling in the trenches for a good long time, though, and I really like "Introvert," so I'm happy to let the caulkheads wait a while. Also grateful for your list, which includes about 6 more albums I need to check out pronto. Embarrassment of riches!Interestingly... Out of this year's 11 nominees - 9 have Atmos mixes.
With Fergus McCreadie - Forest Floor and Gwenno - Tresor being just stereo I think.
- Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler - For All Our Days That Tear The Heart
- Joy Crookes - Skin
- Sam Fender - Seventeen Going Under
- Kojey Radical - Reason To Smile
- Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
- Nova Twins - Supernova
- Self Esteem - Prioritise Pleasure
- Harry Styles - Harry's House
- Wet Leg - Wet Leg
- Yard Act - The Overload
The Mercury Prize generally goes for a less commercial winner. In my opinion Wet Leg were robbed! Especially with it's great Atmos mix!
Harry Styles & Self Esteem are really good too and Joy Crookes is decent. Any of these could have won. Little Simz - while sometimes it might be interesting with the cool backing track, it's just not for me - especially at 19 tracks!
Sam Fender is a great album but the Atmos mix is poor/non existent. I do not get Yard Act at all? Sounds like a Yorkshireman reeling off a shopping list?! But that's musical appreciation and subjectivity for you. Would be pretty dull if everything sounded the same...
My top 3 (with links)
Wet Leg - Wet Leg
Harry Styles - Harry's House
Self Esteem - Prioritise Pleasure (check out the second song Fucking Wizardry - amazing Atmos mix!)
I tried the one song that was up early, nice music, but it's basically a 5.1 mix.Whole album now:
Only stereo here too. And the same goes for Crazy off the Drive playlist as well. This playlist has Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” although the song is not in Atmos for me. Can someone else check (maybe it’s a geographic thing)?
It's like they chopped off everything below 200Hz. A key to these tracks on the original album is the huge-sounding bass drum, and it is non-existent on these mixes. Some of the stuff on the Stroke was cool but they lack the punch of the original stereo, the drums sound especially weak!
Looking forward to listen to this in Atmos, I really liked it. I have only listened the stereo version so far.
It's a bit better than the mixes for her other albums, but nothing special, to be honest.Looking forward to listen to this in Atmos, I really liked it. I have only listened the stereo version so far.
I have listened to three tracks now, Dolby Atmos signal, nothing in heights, but it is an incredible 5.1 workout.Whole album now:
I wonder if he’ll upload Amazonia and the Notre Dame show as “Atmos” after this then. I do recall seeing this advertised as a 5.1 title on his site, then it showed up as AtmosI have listened to three tracks now, Dolby Atmos signal, nothing in heights, but it is an incredible 5.1 workout.
Look for the three dots in the upper right corner, it’ll give you a menu of options. One is “Share album”. Click on that then scroll down to where it says “Copy link” then paste into your post. What is the protocol for attaching an album link to Apple music, can't seem to figure out.
I think it's been true for some time that if you want to see what will be common features in cars in the future, look at today's Mercedes S-class today. For example, I remember almost 20 years ago when the S-class introduced radar-guided cruise control (where the car auto-adjusts speed up and down to match the car in front of you); you can get that on a lot of cars now.I'm hopeful that that eventually there will be other options for Spatial Audio in cars beyond Mercedes. However, if it is generally available through CarPlay without the proper hardware I'm not confident that it will be well implemented.
