This is what Atmos mixes should sound like.....It's a tour de force!! :QQlove
Holy cow - this is amazing! Mickey Hart, Zakir Hussain and Planet Drum - In The Groove... This is a superb surround experience that's demo worthy. At the moment I'm finding myself enjoyingly nodding along - but feel (fear?) I might be doing a full on Haka by the end of the album! 🕺🤷‍♂️😂 The drums are coming from everywhere and it sounds brill! Noticed it's by a label called 360 Productions - which sounds interesting? Hopefully they have more stuff like this in the pipeline... Gotta be up there with the best Atmos mixes...

All true.
First I must say, Mountain Jam is The Allman Brothers Band at perfection, a purely great piece of music.
I think between the 5.1 SACD and this Atmos mix they are two different listens.
With the Atmos mix you get no better or worse than the 5.1. Everything seems equal to me.
1. The Dolby Atmos signal is very strong in the heights which is good. but if you could imagine take a block of wood say 4" tall and trim 1" off the top and put that in the heights, what you get is a mirror image of the bottom surround, albeit weaker.
I know this because I turned off all my floor amps just leaving the heights on and that is what I heard.
2. So it makes me wonder for Eat A Peach, I think the listening experience of the 5.1 SACD would be a little better as nothing is taken from it.
3. As Dave~~Wave said and I will add this Eat A Peach Atmos is definitely a keeper, even if you have the 5.1, I like both versions as they are different experiences. Atmos done well, not always has discreet placement of the music, vocals/instruments, but the envelope of sound can be a great experience
first, the music sounds great. Some very talented musicians and great songs. The appreciation of that gets lost here sometimes. The ATMOS mix is very good, seems like all the best ones share something in common. All the voices and instruments sound so clear, ,immediate, present and detailed. Like you are standing in the room as the music is made.

Not 100% sure why, but in my experience, the 5.1 and 7.1 mixes seems to have a little more power, a little bit more low end, than the ATMOS versions. I would say same for this recording, but it’s not a criticism, I just think it comes with an object based approach, vs a channel approach.

by the way, Melissa is extraordinary. What a wonderful listen in ATMOS. WOW 🤩 .

With Revolver, don’t forget about Paperback Writer and Rain Atmos mixes!
https://tidal.com/album/255426175
Yes, oops forgot to mention. They are nice mixes, with Rain being, as it should, a little off kilter...and PW has the wonderful backing harmonies above and behind you. Thank you Peter Jackson's team at WingNut in helping separate out whatever the machine learning can do.

This stuff is getting wild. Even late 50's and early 60's stuff sounds like they used 32 tracks to accomplish some of these better atmos mixes. But, as most have pointed out here, the good ones are like finding, ok, a few needles in a haystack.

Yes, it was only a matter of time - these are now on Apple too:
View attachment 84814
Serge Gainsbourg - You're Under Arrest
Serge Gainsbourg - Love On The Beat
Serge Gainsbourg - Mauvaises nouvelles des étoiles
Serge Gainsbourg - Aux armes et caetera

I hope I am not wrong that the only SG album left to transfer from Tidal is Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg. (Edit: Yep, I was wrong, it's the Bonnie And Clyde album with BB that is still MIA - thanks @pashalifi for the heads up!)

The mixes by Poussin are very good and the SQ is excellent. Interestingly, Poussin's mixes for other artists (yes, you can search by the name) are relatively somewhat subpar, but that can be different genres. Or me.
I'm in the U.S. and I can't find You're Under Arrest, Love On The Beat, or Mauvaises nouvelles des étoiles at all on Apple Music -- not in Atmos, not even in stereo. If anyone in the U.S. has found these, I'd really appreciate links.

I have read about that this mix is coming before and then totally forgot about it - here it is:

Is the paperback writer Atmos mix the same on revolver deluxe and 1?
I'm not going on the numbers, just on listening to the mix: they are VERY different, with the "1" mix being quite traditional, front heavy, with the lead guitar prominent in the left soundstage and the backing vocals slightly separated. In the new mix the whole 3D soundstage is involved, with heavy emphasis on harmonies. The lead guitar is slightly damped down, and in the stage right instead. As the numbers support, it sounds quite a bit more dynamic..but Paul's bass is a bit more prominent in the "1" release..at least on my system.

I think we're still waiting, scooob. These albums originate with Universal France, and IIRC Europe and the rest of the world were ahead of the US on the previous Atmos releases, too.

Nice mix and stunning fidelity. I watched "The Sound of 007" documentary and was going to play just the Billy Eilish song when I realised the whole album is in Atmos
I checked some of this out last night and really enjoyed the active mix.

Immersive Mix Engineer: Stephen Lipson (Nick Rives did the Billy Eilish track which was really nice as well)

Thanks, what about penny lane?
Look to be identical.
