I wonder who the heck remixed them all???All the Harrison studio albums look like they got upgraded to Atmos today on Apple Music. At least in U.S.
Even Wonderwall.

I agree that they are somewhat lazy. I did hear a couple of cool things in “When We Was Fab” but overall the mix is not adventurous but not horrible either.Quickly sampled Brainwashed and Cloud Nine. Summary: every sound, everywhere, all at once (=bad, lazy upmix).
Really deceived. Will try more in the afternoon, but now my expectations are very low. Bummer.
I listened to a lot and didn't hear any individual sounds. Like César said, all speakers have the same instruments.
I cherry-picked a few tracks from "Cloud 9" and had the same impression. The fronts, sides, and front heights seem to be more-or-less the same. The rears are interesting though, lead vocal and drums seem to be mostly wiped out.I listened to a lot and didn't hear any individual sounds. Like César said, all speakers have the same instruments.
That's not necessarily true, I think individual tracks and albums are replaced (or "updated") more often than we realize. The initial Sgt. Pepper Atmos mix was swapped with an improved version, and the upmix of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" was pulled when the full No Secrets album came out.My main problem with these computer generated 'mixes' is that when they exist, they prevent real mixes of the material from ever coming to fruition.
The mix for Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works 85-92 also lasted about a month before being pulled as well…That's not necessarily true, I think individual tracks and albums are replaced (or "updated") more often than we realize. That is true.. I just really hope thats the case and these aren't permanent mixes. Only time can tell. That's not necessarily true, I think individual tracks and albums are replaced (or "updated") more often than we realize. The initial Sgt. Pepper Atmos mix was swapped with an improved version, and the upmix of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" was pulled when the full No Secrets album came out.
Could be a temporary glitch on Apple Music, but George Harrison - All Things Must Pass (50th Anniversary) [Super Deluxe] has been replaced with a non-Atmos version (I had it in my library and the entire album says "No Longer Available", but there is a version with that name in Apple Music that is all stereo.
The All Things Must Pass (50th Anniversary) album without the extras is still there and in Atmos.
I still don't see it in this section on Tidal...Its back to normal.
If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t get the impression that they were upmixes.Everybody is entitled to an opinion based on a first impression, but the above assertions are demonstrably false.
I will give one example only, not interested in a debate.
Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) [thanks George, trying to do that here as respectfully as possible]
Surround backs have isolated sustained harmonium chords, bass guitar & backing vocals.
Center channel lead voc, drums, lead guitar.
LFE bass guitar fundamental octave only, no kick.
I think we should all cool down before starting a freaking social media attack on the Harrison estate.
I don't understand why anyone is proud they got some old singles from the 60s and 70s deleted as Atmos "upmixes" and reverted to stereo.
Screw that, I want to hear Archie Bell & The Drells Tighten Up Part I & II banging from 12 speakers again and wrapping around my head on my Airpods.
Dammit, I pay for my Apple subscription, and you have diminished my access to tracks I enjoyed.
And no, they categorically do not sound the same in "7.1 all speaker stereo" switched on the receiver as they did before, even if the mix is "lazy" or doesn't meet one's personal standards.
You don't get to decide for me what I groove to.
Please consider that my wife is a huge George Harrison fan.
She will get a great deal of pleasure listening to these arguably substandard Atmos tracks on her Airpods at the gym and dog walking.
It will not be a win for her if Atmos snobbery gets these tracks deleted and reverted to stereo.
One man's opinion, agree or disagree. Over and out.
Hi Franck, we chatted briefly a while ago at the virtual listening party for Suzanne’s album that KamranV hosted. Anyway, I’ve been testing about Apple Music recently and really trying to dig deeper into what spatial audio has to offer. The Apple curated “Electronic” list doesn’t really do it for me and I’d love to check out your playlist if you don’t mind sharing it. Thanks.I have released a few albums in quad, I do modular synthesizers and the format there has been quad for a long time. When Dolby Atmos came in on popular services like Apple Music that's was the way to release it easily to all. I shared notes with @kamranv and I'm still learning.
However, you need to make sure you only use 4 objects placed in the corners of the virtual room, as your output is already made for that type of setup. There are already virtual objects moving between these 4 sources.
I made an Apple playlist of modular synthesizers in quadraphonic released at Dolby Atmos (not many releases yet, if you find more send it my way)
I explain how to do quadraphonics on a eurorack modular synthesizer
