Do you mean that all streaming Atmos is mediocre, or just some of it?
I mean mediocre Atmos mixes when they don't use many objects... many channels... and fully use my Wide Speakers... Of course much content on heights, and many discrete and moving sounds... Not only a small effect at the end of the song, but during the whole song.
I want to experience all that. If not, we already have stereo/5.1 and AVR upmixers.
Now, seriously, I can appreciate the effort of achieving immersion without discrete ping-pong sounds. But the fun is in taking a little of this and a little of that.
The streaming mediocre quality is another thing, although not so important. The mix is what matters.

I am listening now Apple4K CA, Carl Perkins Blue Suede Shoes Atmos. Man, after just listening to Dark Side Of The Moon in Atmos, this Carl Perkins Atmos sounds like MONO, when I listened to it yesterday it was better, that just shows you how great Dark Side is.

Noticed that this was done at abbey road studios so I decided to check tidal on the credits and it looks like Giles Martin did the atmos mix!
Still only three tracks for the new Baaba Maal album, but after reading this interview with Afropop's Banning Eyre today, I'm really looking forward to the entire album when it drops next week, on the 31st:

Agreed, but the key word there is "good"
Both formats can be variable depending on the nut behind the mixing panel.
But the same can be said for 2ch mixes also
Owe you one for this find, amigo.
Philip Glass gets labeled classical, which is ok, but inadequate for the breadth and intensity of some of it.
Made for surround listening, this will be my weekend immersion.
