No ATMOS here in the states.
Interesting. I’m in the states and it was in Atmos yesterday and still is this morning. But I think this sort of thing has happened before... some people see an album in Atmos and others don’t. Rush’s Signals comes to mind.

Its in my phyiscal library on my phone and ipads. I only add ATMOS titles to playlists. Apple makes it very difficult to keep copies of ripped music with my own metadata on my devices.

I received the following email from Dolby Professional, which I suspect is worth sharing but doesn’t merit its own thread. This one seems to me the most logical place. If not, mods please do one of those magical mod things you do…

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Audible, a leading creator and provider of premium audio storytelling.

The Audible Originals in Dolby Atmos collection highlights the extraordinary talents of a variety of actors, writers, directors, sound designers, and other creators across feature-length multi-cast productions, soundscapes, live performances and podcasts.

Dolby Atmos expands the possibilities of audio storytelling with the ability to create more layers of sound and control over the directionality of different audio elements, creators can draw listeners into a deeper, richer, and more lifelike immersive sound experience that fully engrosses them in each story.
Leading Audible’s slate of titles available in Dolby Atmos is The Little Mermaid, the magical retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale. The story follows the journey of a young mermaid who is willing to give up her life under the sea in exchange for becoming human.

Seems to me that it would've been a better move for dolby to have promoted the atmos format via podcasts and audiobooks first. Immersive sound fx and score adds so much to audio, it's cheap to produce, etc. Most of what I see online is that people don't understand atmos for music. They misunderstand the concept/it sounds bad/it doesn't sound the same/don't get that it is a format and not an effect/airpods blah blah. Immersive for audio just seems easier to understand and execute. Footsteps coming from behind you in a story. Easy, got it.

Pink Floyd - DSOTM now on Tidal: ID: 283628182

EDIT: Pretty conservative mix, more immersive than discrete. First impressions: Not bad but not worth $300 for the BDA. Wait for a Steven Wilson or Alan Parsons mix (which means wait forever most probably).

Just heard it all and I agree with your impressions.
They didn't go crazy with surround or height channels in most songs. They tried to preserve the stereo front wall as much as they could.
For example, you would presume that the cash register effect at the start of "Money" will be moved to the height channels, but no. They kept it in FLFR and only when the music starts and the cash register effect is back, then they moved it "upstairs".
Also, for some reason, "Brain Damage" is still in stereo for me.

All in all, it's not a bad mix. I just think that our expectations were just too high for this release.
