Another single out (exploring dance tracks with an experimental twist)

It is part of:

I changed my distributor from Distrokid to LandR. Still a bit new but seems better and more cost effective for Atmos.

My last album is doing well, getting a few reviews/positive feedback from the modular synthesizer world/press

Hope you like…

BRIT Rising Star award winners (or so I learned from their appearance on Colbert a couple of nights ago). Their earlier singles--and "Apple Music London Session"--also have Atmos mixes:
Yes they are pretty big in UK (snood thinks) if you are at all interested - the chorus "I will have you like nothing matters" is actually "I will F**K you like nothing matters" check the videos.....also if you want a signed cd, Amazon UK selling Amazon exclusive signed cd of Prelude to Ectasy here.....Amazon does this a lot with newer groups and sometimes/rarely with well known names.

Sorry forgot the link and it is Amazon UK Prelude to Ecstasy (Amazon Signed CD) by The Last Dinner Party: Amazon.co.uk: CDs & Vinyl

On board with Atmos as of tonight. Apple TV for Christmas, then used Marantz AVR and new Polk ceiling speakers from eBay. Sampled some Who, Beatles, Floyd. Disappointed in DSOTM - for example Money’s coin chinks don’t rotate around like in 5.1 and some seem missing. But … Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More” steals the show - incredible. One of the best mixes ever.

That’s the same for the bluray Atmos version as well, the coin does circle the room like it does on the SACD or dvd audio 5.1

None are missing. Check the system setup.

One of my favorites from very late last year, the new Andre 3000 album now has an Atmos mix!
(Not a rap album, an ambient spiritual jazz flute album.)
And a new album:
I thought it should have had an Atmos mix from the start. Glad it does now even if I'm only listening in 5.1

The group Irreversible Entanglements, co-led by poet/musician/activist/spoken-word artist Moor Mother, moves to Impulse!, which seems to be reviving its historic focus on "spiritual" and socially conscious jazz. This album made a few "Best of 2023" lists in the jazz world. Not a bad Atmos mix, either--although it's more or less 5.1 with ambiance in the overheads:

As a late arrival, wondering if anyone has come up with a comprehensive list of streaming and/or hard media titles in Atmos. If so, direction would be most appreciated.
Not… really. This site does have a pretty comprehensive Physical surround releases poll which acts a pretty great guide as to what has been released in surround, and @haikubass’s fantastic Yearly Release Threads collate each years surround releases and notes if they’re in Atmos (and links to previous threads for previous years). Those yearly release threads would be the closest to a comprehensive list… but with 5.1 and quad, and the occasional download mixed in.

As for streaming, the main complaint we all have here is the streamers don’t do a great job of having a section of just *everything* in Atmos, it’s usually a curated page by the streamer’s Editorial Team, like Apple’s Spatial Audio “genre” page. There is however, a fantastic solution from Apple app developer Ben Dodson who has made a Apple Music Atmos Search Engine, and The Spatial Audio Database which is a daily updating list of tracks/albums uploaded in Dolby Atmos or Dolby Audio (what seems to be Dolby’s new name for legacy surround systems; 7.1, 5.1, quad, 3.0, etc). It’s done through a combination of scraping the Apple Music API as well as his Apple Music Library Tracker app, which notifies you of any changes to your library (mostly data tags, the year of release and so on, but occasionally it catches Atmos upgrades and when Apple Music falls into it’s nasty habit of splitting up albums for no obvious reason)

Tangentially related to the thread but still worth sharing: iOS/tvOS/iPadOS etc etc 17.3 is starting to roll out…NOW! This includes the long awaited but constantly delayed collaborative playlists on Apple Music. Might be fun to organize a site-wide “ultimate demo playlist”

Ethan Iverson - Technically Acceptable

Sounding great so far in my room, excellent rendering of the acoustic bass.

A lot of people might know Ethan from The Bad Plus if they know him at all, but he's been putting out great records under his own name going all the way back to the late 90s. Looking forward to this one. Here's a profile/interview by Phil Freeman in Stereogum:
