Just make sure you turn off the lyrics view. It ain’t Dylan.

Boris Blank, the great composer of the Yello duo, explaining how they elaborated the complex lyrics of the popular single "Oh Yeah":

Copied from Wikipedia:
"""""""
Describing the composition of "Oh Yeah," Blank said, "First I did the music and then I invited Dieter to sing along, and he came up with some lines which I thought, 'no Dieter, it's too complicated, we don't need that many lyrics'. I had the idea of just this guy, a fat little monster sits there very relaxed and says, "Oh yeah, oh yeah". So I told him, 'Why don't you try just to sing on and on 'oh yeah'?... Dieter was very angry when I told him this and he said, 'are you crazy, all the time "Oh yeah"? Are you crazy?! I can't do this, no no, come on, come on.' And then he said, 'some lyrics, like "the moon... beautiful", is this too much?!' and I said, 'no, it's OK', and then he did this 'oh yeah' and at the end he thought, 'yeah it's nice', he loved it himself also. And also I wanted to install lots of human noises, all kind of phonetic rhythms with my mouth; you hear lots of noises in the background which are done with my mouth

About to make my first citizen’s arrest for crimes against surround music coz it is criminal that this album has been overlooked since September:

One of the best Atmos mixes out there for Rock. Very crankable.

Tracks added to playlist:

Special mention to- Heroes as well.

>>There's not even DIY multi-channel DACS. Hifi-berry, Allo, etc, none of those support more than stereo.

hmmmm … in the process of buying an Allo DigiOne Signature Player to use as a Roon endpoint. Allo says it will play anything Roon streams to it … including surround files.

Am I missing something? Just wanted to check before I pull the trigger!

Thanks for any info.

I know you are listening to this on blu-ray so lyrics aren't likely viewable, but on Apple Music there is an option to view the lyrics. I tried this once with Yello - Point, and it was bad. Really bad. But as you imply, the lyrics aren't the point of this kind of music. And the mix is that good.

I listened to Yello Point Atmos mix, ripped through Kodi and lyrics wasn't bad.

edit... I may missed the "Point" on your meaning of bad.

R.E.M. Automatic For The People-Dolby Atmos ripped from hard disc, trueHD 24/48 MKV file, DR's are 11, 12's, 14's, 15's.

Do you ever wake up, turn on the rig, start listening to your selection and think, man, this sounds great, I have the best rig I ever owned in my life?
Today, one of those days. I have spent so much time working on this beast, and I am very critical of my work, but today the light turned green and I won the race, nice to feel that once in awhile. Tomorrow might be different.

Oh, I know both sides of that coin soooo well. But the days when it all clicks are very good days. 🙌

Going for it today with the Big Guns.
INXS-Kick 30, Dolby Atmos ripped from disc, solid rip, no chapters as JRiver does not play gapless with a MKV file, it will play gapless with a DSF or FLAC file. What's cool about Kick 30 is when you playback a continuous rip (like a movie) it plays back the video of the chapter selections, so you always no where you are at. There are a few other Blu Ray rips to MKV that I need to do that to, all the gapless like Abbey Road etc. I know, I know, there is a work around with JRiver, but I like my way.
Kick 30- true HD rip, 24/48 MKV file DR is 15.
BTW, all my Blu Ray rips, regardless of format are done using MKV as the ripping software and then using MMH as the tagging/editing software, super simple, 100% successful.

Good music, but I don't remember the Atmos being very good?

I read an article in this morning's New York Times about English electronic musician Sam Shepherd, a/k/a Floating Points, collaborating on a new release with Pharoah Sanders and the LSO--and thought: "This guy's music would be a natural candidate for Atmos." And sure enough: three years ago he did a live performance at Ministry of Sound--in Atmos (64 speakers/22 channels)--of his album Ratio. But neither that album nor any other has actually been released in Atmos. What gives?

What a bummer. I've been into a Floating Points kick for these past weeks. The last album is hands down a masterpiece of jazz/electronic experience
