BTW: All Phil Collins have been remixed for 5.1

I just started on the post-1977 titles.
Will get to 1991-present when I get a source for that chart data.

Surf City -- Jan & Dean. If you're referring to the one on Surf's Up, I've judged that to be fake quad (see my Inside the Music thread).

Haven't listened to My Sharona yet to verify it's the real thing. Here's really hoping.

Just forgot to add Fame. Finally had Neil extract the DTS for me so I can play it in U.S. Fantastic mix!

Thought I added Bette Davis eyes but apparently forgot to.

Is the Bon Jovi tune on his Greatest? I think that's the one I didn't buy because it didn't have Blaze of Glory or Dead or Alive.

Where does Blondie - Call Me appear in 5.1?

The two Estefan tunes and Dire Straits, you're absolutely right and I'll add them.

Are the Phil Collins tracks available somewhere, or just upcoming?

Two questions (one of which has already been asked):

where can I find Blondie's Heart of Glass in 5.1 and where can I find Blondie's Call Me in 5.1?

I'd love to have them!

"Heart of Glass" is on the Silverline compilation DVD-A entitled "Inside the Music: Women on Top" (supposed to be real surround-- haven't heard it yet).

"Call Me" is on "Inside the Music: New Wave" (along with "One Way or Another") -- they sound real to me.

Unfortunately "Heart of Glass" is the only mix on that Silverline DVDA that is NOT real 5.1.
I know cause that's the song I was most interested in and was extremely disappointed with the disc. The rest of them are VERY good 5.1 mixes, curiously enough....

Both Bon Jovi tracks are on the dualdisc of "slippery when wet", and the dvd side is a true dvd-a.

Slippery When Wet isn't really a greatest hits album -- it just feels like one. But it does indeed contain a 5.1 mix of Wanted Dead or Alive. Blaze of Glory is from the soundtrack of Young Guns II, released four years later in 1990.

One Way or Another can be found on Inside the Music: New Wave -- for my money, the best disc Silverline ever released.
Unfortunately, the Blondie track is not a highlight. If a real 5.1 mix, it sure isn't very exciting.
My Sharona is definitely a fake, and not even a good one.

Did not notice if these were mentioned above:-

1979 - Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love dts-DVD - all 5.1 on music video collections
1980 - Queen - Another One bites The Dust dts-DVD

1974 - McCartney - Band On The Run dts-DVD
1975 - " - Listen To What The Man Said dts-DVD
1976 - " - Silly Love Songs dts-DVD
1978 - " - With A little Luck dts-DVD
1980 - " - Coming Up dts-DVD
1982 - " - Ebony & Ivory dts-DVD
1983 - " - Say Say Say dts-DVD

I've also heard/seen snippets of The BeeGees Night Fever and Stayin' Alive music videos in true 5.1 - Also the movie soundtrack to Flashdance has the title track in 5.1

NHK-TV Japan occasionally has pop standards collection programs ( all HD and specials in surround...)

All the best.

What a great thread. Thanks for bumping to the surface.

When I starting reading through the list I was thinking, “hang on that’s in surround”, then realised its an old thread. Hopefully we can update.

BTW: All Phil Collins have been remixed for 5.1

More info required please.

I’ve seen posts here on QQ about Phil Collins possible surround mixes. I gather these were never released.

I had a Phil Collins music video laserdisc in the mid nineties that sounded damn good on my surround system. I’m pretty sure it was Dolby surround. I’d kill too have that on DVDV or BDV as Phil is a favourite of mine. Was that ever released on DVD?

Do you remember which one it was? I may still have it.

The Singles Collection. It was released in 1990.

Looking on Discogs it was released on Laserdisc in USA/Canada and in Japan. Also on VHS.

There’s ‘unofficial’ releases on NTSC DVD (listed as multichannel) in Russia. Not sure what that means.

It's been a good while since the list in the original post was updated, and streaming Atmos has added a ton of songs to the list.

The OP has been banned, and I'm guessing there's not any one person who has the gumption to update the whole darned thing. However, FWIW, I thought I could do my part by tackling the decade I have the most interest in: the 80s.

So, here we go: all of the Billboard Hot 100 #1s from the 1980s that currently have surround mixes in some accessible physical or streaming form. If I've missed anything or screwed something up, please jump in!

Well, I got inspired, so here's another decade: all of the 1990s Billboard Hot 100 number ones with physical or currently streaming surround mixes. (As you'll see, it's nowhere near as extensive as the 80s.)

Again, please chime in with corrections/oversights. I'll probably do the 70s when I have time, but someone else who cares much more than I do can tackle the 21st century. 😅

Alright, here's at least a start on the 70s, with what is effectively the post-quad part of the decade (1977-1979). The preceding chunk of the decade will take more time, since there are so many more #1s available and I want to be careful about confirming which quad mixes were LP or 8-track or both.

I'll edit and add to this post as I get more done and, as always, please post corrections and additions.

Barry Manilow – Looks Like We Made It (This One’s for You LP Quad)
I liked Barry Manilow’s music as a kid, which wasn’t exactly popular within my friend group.

If this album was released as a quad disc today, I’d have my credit card out in a flash.

Rupert Holmes – Escape (The Pina Colada Song) (streaming Atmos)
And this album, Partners in Crime, is great. A clever lyricist. Oh to get that as an Atmos disc.
