Have you tried PLII Music and eliminated the Centre channel altogether?
(If you just set the centre image to its Max, the centre channel disappears and your front L&R handle the phantom centre etc.)
Works for me!
So many CDs pan out brilliantly this way! Try things with lots of out of phase info like Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key Of Life", you'll be amazed at the pseudo surround effect!

Adam - SITKOL - sounds amazing on my Surround Master. Stop buying SACDs for 5 seconds and buy a Surround Master.. with the money you've saved.. you'll be amazed.

I've tried your PLII setting and it sounds a lot better but the all channel stereo still sounds better (to me). I tried it at low volume though so I'll try again at a more suitable time for high volumes .Too many options on those receivers @:
