Various Artists THE WONDERFUL SOUNDS OF MALE VOCALS [SONY/Analogue Productions Exclusive Stereo SACD] I had some hesitation in ordering this AP exclusive ...... but SO glad I did. 20 deep cuts from diverse artists like Amos Lee, Willy DeVille, JD Souther, Tony Joe White, Tony Bennett, Harry Belafonte, et alia all in absolutely stunning 'you are there' sonics. Mastered by Ryan K. Smith @ Sterling Sound and authored by Gus Skinas with liner notes by Michael Fremer. Highly Recommended

Bought this recently after owning it on vinyl many years ago, and am (still) very impressed by not only Ms Snow's 4 octave range & unique voice, but by the eclectic mix of tunes on this superb sounding stereo SACD. Unfortunately, she left us too soon.

Bought that Snow album on Japan LP, DCC Gold CD & SACD. SACD does sound best.

Caught Snow live at Poplar Creek, Hoffman Estates, IL. It was with the NY Rock n Soul Revue - Becker, Fagen, Mike McDonald, Charles Brown, Boz Scaggs, Harvey Brooks and more...

Thanks Quad Linda for moving my post above to the appropriate thread. More importantly, I'm jealous that you saw Phoebe Snow perform...am certainly old enough to have seen her, but it just didn't happen for whatever reason!

When I first started on the forum I would go on Ebay and look for CD's that Steve Hoffman had worked on and I had the Snow CD...I was seldom disappointed....if I remember correctly there was a smaller label that had the Hoffman/Ramone CD on Ebay...much cheaper than the DCC one..

I believe NOTHING should be heard in mono, or even 2 ch, if I can help it. I prefer QUAD!!

seriously folks, I couldn't agree more. Don't have all, only 60%. I haven't bought a bad one. Sounds pretty good for mono, so I guess you're right. Great music & fidelity (for mono.)

OK, I'll still buy another copy when the 5.1 comes out.

From Impulse newly discovered and finally being released as a Stereo single layer SHM~SACD by UMG [full 90 minute concert]

https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/UCGU-9073
Features the high-fidelity SHM-SACD format. Previously unreleased live recording of the John Coltrane Quintet at the Village Gate in August 1961. The group welcomed Eric Dolphy as the fifth member that day. This 90-minute live recording was recently discovered at the New York Public Library. Recorded live in New York City, August 1961. *No overseas release in SACD format is currently planned.
