Alice Cooper-Billion Dollar Babies/Welcome to my Nightmare.......Fleetwood Mac-Rumours(dvd-a)

Reptile Eric Clayton DVD audio. Nice easy listening in the morning with some very talented musicians.

Shawn Amos-Thank You Shirl-ee May thanks to suggestions from others while I have been inquiring about dualdiscs. This is an interesting disc. I really like the music so far and would have never even looked at this if not for this site and the wondeful people here!

Leaving - ML (M/C SACD).

Very nice surround mix indeed, by Ronald Prent who mixed the recent (and imho incredible) 5.1 on the Blu-ray Audio of Lori Lieberman's "Bricks Against The Glass".

Lots of rear channel activity (synths, backing vocals, little percussion flourishes, vocal effects and other sound effects galore!) I'm not hugely enamoured of ML's voice (it's especially strained on the more uptempo numbers but has a nice soulful quality on the slower more sultry numbers and has a pretty tone) but the materials pretty solid and varied going from poppy to bluesy to rocky.. sound quality is exceptional and from a surround point of view it's superb.

Special mention to the 4 live tracks presented as bonuses at the end of the album, they are superb examples of discrete surround live mixes, with lots of lovely stuff (heaps of percussion in "Oewie") in the rears, it's like sitting right in the middle of a smokey little club type venue.. wonderful.

one of my favorite personal recordings...
Taha'a (French Polynesia) island at noon

We stayed here
and there was this small motu that was EMPTY at noon, so I left my newly purchased Zoom surround recorder there for an hour...nobody went there and no boats or planes went by...(had to EQ the bejeezus out of it because if the wind....and it had a foam wind screen!!!!!

I was going to add some choice words about the surround mix..

..how it's essentially Quad with one guitar player per speaker..

but I think this photo of the booklet that accompanies the SACD sums it up best.. if a picture paints a thousand words, I'll shut me gob! :D

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - HFPA Blu-ray - Thanks to OppoFood!!!

I must say 1st impressions are that this is better sounding than the original SACD - less "grating" and more "integrated".
