I got bent over on a handful of sacd's, but you can't take it with you is my motto.

The Cardigans - Long Gone Before Daylight
Depeche Mode - Black Celebration & Violator
Bach - The Four Great Toccatas & Fugues
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Rage Hard

Frankie is the only purchase I second guess because it could have been much better in the right hands. I actually would have much preferred Welcome to the Pleasuredome. Such is life.

If I were smarter, I would sell all my sacd's since I have rips via my PS3. But I like having the real deal. I actually have 2 PS3's with sacd rippers and cfw.

I dig technology and jailbreaking everything that's possible.
On a side note, XBMC and Kodi guys are working on dsd and sacd playback...should be groundbreaking stuff if we could stream dsd or sacd ISO over network.

Don't feel bad...most of us have made the plunge...I waited too long to get aqualung and had to pay a premium for the entire box set to just get the blu ray..over $140 and all I wanted was the blu ray...no buyers remorse because it's worth it to me...it only hurts when you spend big bucks and the disc isn't that good...been there and done that too:howl

Absolutely agree on the Aqualung blu-ray. That is a killer disc. I paid $130 and never regretted it. Much later after that I was able to trade the dvd so my cost went down dramatically. You might want to consider putting the dvd on ebay and get some of your money back.

I think that's why this forum is so valuable.

Yes...along with the opinions of people on here that you trust about the quality of the discs.....by trust I mean those people who have the same taste in music as you do...we all have different opinions about certain aspects of music..after some study of the polls I have a core group of posters that have like tastes in the sound quality department and I value their opinions along with outside opinions...helps me decide on the purchase of discs..but knowing where to get discs and what discs are available and at what cost is a HUGE benefit of this forum...and the friendly atmosphere of this community separates it from other forums..

I haven't been able to listen to the Cardigans since I saw them open for Beck many years ago. Just too boring for my taste. Crazy prices for that SACD...

Cool news about XBMC...but for audio, I can't get it to play ripped dts cd's properly. Nothing beats it for video however.

I've ripped/converted my DTS-CDs to 5.1 FLAC and that plays perfectly in XBMC/Kodi.

I recently moved to XBMC and it's pretty close to gapless for both audio and video (I have all my hi res audio and concert videos in individual files - one file per song - for easy juke boxing).
