THE BEATLES - Love (DVD-Audio)

As bizarre as it is to believe...I think we all take LOVE for granted. I mean....who would have EVER thought that this disc was even possible?? Not only is it The Beatles hits...it's in surround. And...it sounds amazing. Huh? It's a gem, and for us fans...it is cream!

I don't listen to it enough, but when I do...I'm so pleased.

Hehehe...So, terrible picture...

But this is my listening room....you see all my Klipsch gold drivers.....love me some Klipsch. And, you might see LOVE on the TV screen.

HAWKWIND - Warrior On The Edge Of Time (DVD-Audio)
Surround mix compliments of Steven Wilson.

I love this disc.....we're talking Lemmy back before Motorhead...great psychedelic early 70's music.

Any fans out there? I have to say that the song "Opa-Loka" is flat out one of the best rock tunes I've ever heard! It simply cranks...

"Grace for Drowning" BD, for the first time.

I recently moved and took it as an opportunity to switch my home entertainment hardware to HD (new TV, receiver, and BluRay player). Filling in Steven Wilson surround releases that I had not been able to play previously. Color me Happy.

Count me as a fan, it's good listening when I get chance. Found it interesting though (Wikipedia) that Lemmy didn't have anything good to say about Opa-Loka.

Wow, Beautiful setup!!!! LOOOOVE those speakers...which model are they???- REALLY?? GOLD covered speakers??? What are the tweeters, platinum??? (just envious)

I'm a BIG fan of metallic speakers (My Hartke bass amp has an aluminum 18 inch speaker....), and I was noticing the Paradigm (??) speakers in the TV series "Elementary"....

Thanks! I probably should not have said gold, I guess they are copper...which is a sort of gold color. Klipsch is the brand of all my speakers (even the surrounds in back of room you can't see). Well, OK, but my sub (which is also in back of room) is a Rythmik DS1501. It has a 15" black driver, though I could have gotten silver...but thought that was too drastic against my copper drivers.

Fronts : Klipsch RF-82II
Center : Klipsch RC3
Rear: Klipsch RP3

How about a picture of that sub...I bet the Kap'n would like to see it...

This album keeps getting better with every listen!

I agree, this has been one of my most listened to (and re-listened to) surround mixes of 2014. Once you fix the phase issues, it reveals itself as a really beautiful mix and some excellent songs.

WOW! :yikes

Ohhh my.. the surround mix is absolutely incredible on this!

there's HEAPS of atmosphere! "jungle"/African effects galore in the rears (crickets chirping, thunder cracks, the lot!) and her vocals in the centre are just out of this world, with some AMAZINGLY effective reverb in the rears in the spoken word passages.. the rears are hard at work on this one the whole time -- WHAT A MIX!!!! just WOW!!

haunting and engaging, daring, challenging, storytelling, hypnotic, rhythmic, beautiful.. absolutely stunning surround music.

You have got to hear this one guys.

I'm thrilled I took the risk - this is a seriously overlooked hidden gem of a surround music SACD that can still be found new for real-world money just about everywhere as you can see in the links I posted above to Amazon USA, Amazon UK, etc..

Hey All,

Finally got around to checking this SACD out after reading the recommendations here. I agree that this is a wonderful and very active mix! I must say she has a very powerful voice, so much so that it felt overpowering to the mix to me. So I did an experiment and dropped the center channel entirely (unplugged). Wow, I love this disc in this configuration! The remaining vocals become ethereal and mysterious - anything but heavy. As an artist she might cringe at this suggestion, but I am far more likely to listen to her work this way. Check it out and feel free to report back.
