If I may say, the quad mix of "25 or 6 to 4" on Chicago II is strikingly different compared to any other version, be it stereo or 5.1. Terry Kath laid down a hell of alot of guitar lines in between verses that were edited out on the original stereo release. The quad mix keeps all this guitar in, while the 5.1 mix edits it out like the stereo version. I myself have never, however, done a side-by-side general comparison of the two surround mixes.

Right now, partaking of the splendid Nick Drake compilation, 'A Treasury' in 5.1 SACD...

A Sound Techniques classic...

KC-LTIA ...the DVD-A from the box set...I had only played the "regular" one...thought I might give it a spin before the Mrs. gets home!

What a sound....I am noticing the incredible violin sound...it's as if it were right next to me...David was no slouch on violin either....never heard him play a note that is not pitch perfect, which is quite a feat...(even have heard Jean Luc Ponty play one really bad long one in a b-leg from a 1986 show!)
