Sgt Pepper. 2017 bluray. Controversial surround mix, but the music .....
@dabl
Here you go:
Live at the Artists Den, Superunknown, Badmotorfinger, Temple of the Dog and Reanimation (Linkin Park) all reviewed.
Yes there are seven albums in that picture, I've listened to them all now and ripped the SACDs, I made the mistake of putting the Quad SACD into my SonyI gotta pay more attention.
I did not notice there were more DV QUADS ????..........Guess Who-American Woman/Share The Land ......and two by Paul Revere and the Raiders .
WOW !!!!!
Wait! I have a Sony UBP-X800, and I'm listening to The Best of The Guess Who Volume II as I type. Discrete sounds coming out of FL, FR, RL, RR; nothing from the center and my sub is off! Not sure what's going on, but the disc and the mix sound great on my system: my receiver is also Sony--STRDN 1080Yes there are seven albums in that picture, I've listened to them all now and ripped the SACDs, I made the mistake of putting the Quad SACD into my Sony
UBP-X800 player and thought "doesn't seem very surround" then remembered the Sony doesn't play Quad! shame on you Sony, you'd have thought they would have had a firmware update to correct this by now, but no. So into the Oppo, ah there it is "yes thats Quad" And the John Fogerty what fantastic discrete sound that is not just audience but instruments too, but the video? well who needs video when the sound is so good.
That might mean D-V quads are mastered with a silent center, silent LFE or both. Does your receiver tell you which channels are active from the source? If so, sometimes quad SACDs or blu-rays look like 5.0 or 5.1.Wait! I have a Sony UBP-X800, and I'm listening to The Best of The Guess Who Volume II as I type. Thanks for that, I read through the SH forum thread, now I thought I'd tried all the settings in the past with no luck, but just changed one setting and I'm now playing American Woman in quad as it should be.not sure but check out this first post/thread:
