Hadn’t spun this one recently and totally forgot how great it is. Beautifully immersive and warm quad mix that makes great use of all 4 speakers in addition to another superlative and informative set of liner notes from Mr. Zimmerman.

Charlie Rich's Behind Closed Doors / Every Time You Touch Me (I Get High)

from the very start of the title track, the sounds absolute hairs on the back of your neck jaw-dropping.

the piano intro is rock solid with real body to it, all the other instruments pour beautifully into the room as they join in, it all flows.. even on my decidedly budget humble little system in my wee little room i can tell this is an impeccable remaster of a stunning recording.. i've never ever heard that voice come across with more presence, its uncanny.

oh i'll never chuck'em, Ralphie! they're lovely ol' relics, with ring wear and dints and dust and pops and clicks.. the SACD is utterly pristine, yet it retains the warmth, the character, the heart, the soul of those old records..

..i don't have the superlatives to do describing it justice, its pretty much the best sounding surround thing i've ever heard. instant "10" -- and i'm only on track 9 out of 21. i might have a nervous breakdown at track 12 (i loved Every Time You Touch Me on my crackly old SQ LP through the Surround Master enough, can i handle it in discrete master tape quality!! we'll see! )

Absolutely stunning! This sounds freakin’ fantastic! One of the best sounding D-V’s ever if you can believe it?! That’s how good it sounds!!! This is going to be a solid 10 without a doubt!

ETYTM(IGH) is brighter sounding than BCD and the surround mix is quite different, bit more adventurous Quad than BCD maybe and his voice got a bit more Marlboro and Bourbon tinged in those couple of years.. but equally divine... "oh what can i doooo! i'm still in lurrrrrrrve with yoooo!" music so good its edible!!

Yeah it works really well! There’s a lot going on with horns and backing vocals and guitar and those drums kinda sweep it all up into such a fantastic mix! The fidelity is super super good...

Need to familiarise myself a bit more with Hard’N’Heavy but the mix is fantastic. Hard to believe this never actually got released?!?

he nailed it.

the 'comedy spoken intro' bit to "Without You" goes all around the room from speaker to speaker 360 degrees very Columbia Quad authentic!!

both songs 1 & 5 are discrete and very Quaddy, so far they seem to fit right in with the rest of the original Quad mixes!
