Alice Cooper Billion Dollar Babies DVD-A

Man, how I wish Warners would do some proper remastering of the early catalogue - in fact I'd buy all Alice's remastered albums, surround or not, I'm such a fan.
Did you spot the mistake on this? The last word 'nothing' after I Love The Dead has been cut off. Also, some of the surround mixes are quite interesting - 'Raped & Freezin' has a longer instrumental segment near the end (it's awesome!) and the mixes of some of the other tracks are quite different.

Kraftwerk - 3D (12345678)

The "Der Katalog" set is way too expensive for me, so this "best of"-style disk does nicely.
The German version.

The box set is expensive but worth every penny/cent - certainly the best surround mix I've ever heard. The surround just fills the whole room with such clarity - everyone who I've played it to has been blown away. Combine it with the 3D visuals on a big screen with a PJ and it's just simply amazing.

Hawkwind - Warrior on the Edge of Time

I got this purely based on the fact that it's mixed by Steven Wilson, and the surround mix is great. The music is pretty fun but dated; it's early '70s space rock with lyrics about wizards (or something....). Some bits do seem to have a bit of a Spinal Tap vibe to it.

Oddly, the track "Motorhead" isn't included on the DVD but is included on the CD. (Side note for those unaware: the bass player on this album, Lemmy, was fired from the band after they made this album. So Lemmy formed his own band and named it after that song.)

I got it for exactly the same reason - and I love it! I have been working through the Hawkwind catalogue since and some the early stuff is fantastic. It's just got such a spooky, weird vibe to it.

I am glad to keep hearing how good this is, I orderd from a sellar in Germany, 2 weeks ago, being shipped via DHL and seems to be on a slow boat, but is going to get here evetually.

I agree , Alice's back catalogue has been poorly served by WB, The mix on BDB DVD-A is quite radical in parts, Raped & Freezin is almost like a complete remix with different vocal parts at times too , but it makes for a great listen

Just gave a listen to Bernstein Rite of Spring. It's fantastic. The recording has in the past been accused of sounding kind of bloated and diffuse, and it's now clear it's because we were listening to a fold-down of the quad. Sounds great, great performance. I'd note there's some obvious tape hum going on (mostly only audible at the very beginning/end of tracks), but I assume that's on the master tape, and I appreciate that DV has chosen fidelity over a perfectly quiet noise floor.

I got a copy of Morph The Cat yesterday, but I am too lazy to pop in tray. Listening now to my ripped DVD-A 5.1 24/48. DR's are 14, 15, 16's, and 17.

And the irony of those VERY HIGH DR scores, Markie, is the original NIGHTFLY album was an EARLY ALL DIGITAL PCM RECORDING [DDD/16 BIT] and it does sound pretty astounding!

Just ordered!

Did I mention I'm still listening to Hopes And Fears and enjoying it?
I should have had a dualdisc of Hiss Panic Movement to play after but the seller sent the plain CD instead. Grrrrr

Keane Hopes and Fears DVDA 5.1
just got this today and playing it so far I like it.
Amazing how many surround discs from 2004 to 2005 I still haven't picked up yet.

A shame that a LOT of those dualdiscs only contained 'enhanced stereo [48/16]' on the DVD side and on the SONY labels only Dolby Digital when Warner, Universal Music and even Silverline produced dualdiscs in MLP DVD~A 5.1!

And while the CD side of dualdiscs refused to play in most players, all my OPPOs never had an issue. That's why they're GREAT UNIVERSAL players!
