Grover Washington, Jr. - "Winelight" (DVD-Audio)

still one of the best 5.1 music mixes i've heard, discrete-o-matic multichannel held together with surround superglue.

when Elliot Scheiner's on top form he is, imho, unbeatable.

Love that one...music is timeless:LB:SG

Art Garfunkel ANGEL CLARE [Columbia/D~V/QUAD SACD/4.0 mix Roy Halee]. In Steelydave's insightful liner notes, Art's 1973 debut solo album for Columbia Records was conceived for surround and the discrete mix is stunning on every level. And in case you're wondering who Angel Clare was, look no further than Thomas Hardy's 1891 novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles in which Clare was a 19th century progressive who sees humanity as a thing to be remolded ... and improved.

IMO, another triumph from Michael Dutton

Carmen McRae FINE AND MELLOW: LIVE AT BIRDLAND WEST [December 1987] [Concord Jazz/Multi~CH SACD/DSD RECORDING] Sometimes I play surround as 'background music' but for this absolutely brilliant outing from Birdland West, I sat in rapt attention. Ms McRae in her PRIME, has assembled an ASTOUNDING coterie of Jazz cats who know how to swing .... AND I MEAN SWING. And the Concord Engineers have captured the excitement of this live performance by actively engaging what can only be described as an immersive soundfield. You are IN Birdland West and if you don't think McRae can sing the blues, listen to "What Can I Say I'm Sorry' and her ribald version of "My Handy Man Ain't Handy No More." If the latter doesn't bring a broad smile to your face, check your PULSE!

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. They don't make music like this any more.

Chase PURE MUSIC/CHASE [Columbia/D~V/QUAD SACD two~fer] I took a CUE from Mr Fred Blue, OMNISCIENT in ALL THINGS SURROUND [Ambience is NOT an OPTION] and am spinning this delightful discrete Quaddie from the WIZARD of WATFORD.

And what delectable Surround Treasures are forthcoming from D~V and his wee elves for the Merry Month of April 2021?

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - The Firstborn is Dead

Their second album; this is the latest one in my string of NC&tBS purchases. Not their best effort but an interesting one nonetheless. I'm up to 7 now, with several other ones in the mail. I'll probably end up getting them all 😎
