Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus

In a 2CD/1DVD package (originally a double LP), with one LP or CD being "Abattoir Blues," the other being "The Lyre of Orpheus," the first containing some harder-edged material, the second some softer, more ballad-y material.

They're both on the same DVD, but interestingly, the menu forces you to select either one or the other (with no "play all" function), so the DVD forces the listener to still process them as separate entities.

This was my last one--I now have all of the NC&tBS 5.1 releases, apart from the documentary mentioned above.

Side note: I earlier described Nick Cave as "post-punk Tom Waits." Recently I read him described as "goth Sinatra," and that's even better.

Simple Minds - Once Upon A Time (BD-A [PCM 96/24])
Just the dose I needed today. No fillers. Spot on mix, although the mastering is maybe a bit hot for my liking.
Now come on - if Simple Minds can do it, why can't you, U2?

Yes, that's a custom packaging - all my three SM BD-As look like this.

Yes, interseting gold blu ray package, I have never seen one. What is the story on this?

When one considers what extraordinary mastering and sonic splendor Michael Dutton can extract from these 50 year old Columbia QUAD mastertapes in deference to a lot of the shoddy remixes/sonics thrust upon us lately by uncaring record companies, Dutton Vocalion surely deserves a GOLD MEDAL

So, Perp, rather than PLAYING THE VICTIM, I just took the initiative of contacting VICKY @ Esoteric to voice my opinion that the Alan Parson's 5.1 remix was TOO BRIGHT and some on QQ Forum [in the states] feel it's somewhat unlistenable and is there ANY chance [maybe 1 in a million] that ESOTERIC would be amenable to releasing a LOSSLESS stand alone BD~A disc in the future. I also told them my DVD~V 5.1/Stereo portion of the box set was SCRATCHED in shipment and asked for a replacement disc.
