Last one for tonight, I think it's a DKA upmix, not shure though but it does sound good.

Not to take away from DKA (love their work and by the looks of that speaker thread earlier saying they're getting back into home theatre.. maybe getting back into the good stuff doing their thing again soon! ) but... whenever I listen to that album I can't help but think "what if" with the unreleased Quad.. I bet its gone forever now being an A&M title.. ah well..

I'm starting to really hate this epidemic! Seriously, why can't they just use this logo if they honestly don't know the difference between DVD-V and DVD-A/V?

It's Mark Powell again! On the back cover it has the DVD Audio logo, and the description for the DVD on the back cover is "DVD hi-res stereo & surround"@:

I can say it sounds superb, similar to the last one for music, and another excellent Andy Jackson surround mix.

That would be great but until then this is a very good alternative

DVD-A(ssholes...)

Just arrived and listening to now (in surround): Jeff Beck's "Blow by Blow"
How could I have been so lucky to find this Hybrid Multichannel SACD for $20 plus shipping? It arrived in perfectly pristine and sealed condition, and it sounds great!
The only drawback I would add that I have noticed so far is that it is rather loud, especially for a 1970s Quadraphonic mix, but I can tell that I will really enjoy this one a lot! :)

I'm seriously willing to instruct him on the basic differences between DVD-V and DVD-A/V, or maybe I can least pass on that 'generic' DVD logo for future use… ;)

I could be way off base here but perhaps there is a simple answer...I doubt it's a deliberate deception by these companies...maybe because the format is DVD and the disc is basically audio...that equates to DVD-Audio to these people...just saying...don't shoot the messenger(or the piano player).

I'll agree with you that it's not a deliberate deception. It's ignorance and apathy, but that's still unacceptable, especially since it's probably going to continue to happen unless someone can properly educate the people who continue to make these mistakes.
And there's also a bigger issue at play here in that this only further adds to the confusion already present in the marketplace which doesn't help sales of these discs either.

V.true, it is a bit of a pita.. all the needless format variations have been, I feel, a contributing factor to hampering sales of these surround things the whole time.. the consumer gets puzzled as to what they're buying at times and if/when it doesn't work as advertised on their equipment get rightly riled, stuff gets returned, maybe at a higher rate proportionally to the number of units shipped than say a bog standard CD release, labels think there's problems inherent with the surround niche market itself - even though its their fault - and they grow reluctant to pursue it fearing they'll lose money on greater numbers of returned/presumed defective product.. its a vicious circle.. how we as consumers are supposed to know and make an informed buying decision when some of the people making the discs themselves don't quite know what they're doing (sorry to be harsh but that's what it amounts to, afaic) well its a recipe for disaster isn't it!?

anyway.. now I kinda go on the assumption they're all DVD-V (unless they're on BD, of course! ;) ) and if in the build up to release it emerges there's involvement of Opus/Neil Wilkes then that's an indicator there is a possibility of DVD-A at least (still no guarantee as we know.. sheer content, like video material etc may preclude it) but by presuming every one will more than likely be a DVD-V I don't get quite so disappointed anymore.. it still can be a let down gotta admit.. Tusk I don't understand, nor Moondance come to think of it, since they were prepped for DVD-A and I'm guessing might have been ready to go as DVD-A with menus and such back in the day.. ah well they made it out in the end and the labels know we're so starved of this stuff we get what we're given like it or lump it! :D

Yeah, but the difference between "Tusk" and "Moondance" is that at least "Moondance" still made it out on a High-Res format, so no complaints on that one from me! :)

Grover Washington, "Winelight", Audio Fidelity SACD.

I was so happy to see this release because I never picked up the DVDA, but I never listen to it! Tonight, it was just what I needed.

Oh isn't it fabulous..!! After a long day, feet up in the sweet spot with a drink in hand and oh my its just multichannel bliss.. Audio Fidelity really delivered the goods with this one.. the players are all at the top of their game (and yet prove less IS more..) ....and has Elliot Scheiner had a finer surround music gig in his illustrious career.. :worthy
