Which SACDs in this series would you recommend for quality of performances and/or sound, Simon?

To be honest I only have a handful and to my ears they all sound splendid. I think the key is to find recordings of works that you will truly enjoy. This is why I have so few. Too many of the titles offered in both the RCA Living Stereo and Mercury Living Presence series did not meet my musical tastes. Though most of them are still available for $10/$15 and they are worth picking up.

I suggest listening to sound clips online. 95% of these albums are offered on iTunes so this is how I heard clips before deciding to buy the ones I liked.

Four Four Three: The Music of Terry Riley by The Ragazze Quartet in collaboration with Slagwerk Den Haag and jazz trio Kapok on Channel Classics in Multichannel DSD Surround Sound.

Recorded in immersive Surround Sound with the musicians arrayed around the recording studio in a circle with microphones in the center.
The music is very eclectic and unpredictable. Recommended for fans of Terry Riley's music and immersive Surround Sound.

"On setting up the Riley ‘In C’ for 8 players, it was clear that we should record this 40 minute work in complete multichannel, which resulted in the group playing in a circle with the microphones in the middle. This has created an amazing audio spectrum when listening in full multichannel. One is literally sitting in the middle with the audio of all speakers surrounding you."

"The sounds on this new recording often border on the hilarious. Sometimes, they're unbelievably delicate and simply adorable. Their decay time is also extraordinarily realistic. Don't set the volume too high in the beginning, because the performance includes some fantastic peaks where everyone goes at it at once and it's all you can do to hold on for dear life. In fact, if you follow Riley's example and alter your consciousness, you may not wish to hold on at all."

All the drama around RTF's non-release of non-surround product sent me back to this: Return To Forever - Montreux 2008

Very discreet and immersive.
More like sitting on stage in the midst of the band than in the audience.
Lot of Stanley and Al in the center channel as they trade lines, Lenny and Chick heavy in the rears.


Also (in fake surround) Weather Report Live in 1978 from Forecast Tomorrow box set.

I was thinking the same: NO hint of Clint. Maybe he IS taking a break or is on a well~deserved vacation.

Clint sent me PM a couple weeks back asking how Snood and Momma Snood were doing and mentioned some health issues he was having (nothng specific), perhaps serious

Been trying to PM him 3 or 4 times over the last week because Snood is very worried now. Did not want to say anything or concern anyone, but very very worried now.

So yeah, I hope he comes back and in better health - if he mad at me, well Snood just worried.
