It sounds so good, especially for a 1973 recording. In my tippity-top favorites for a perfect balance of dynamics, fidelity, surround, music, and sheer faithfulness in a very adventuress way.

My two favorite King Crimson surround mixes are "Larks Tongues in Aspic" and "THRAK", and the main reason why I think both of them work better in surround than they do in stereo is because of the double percussive elements. (Bruford-Muir on Larks and Bruford-Mastelotto on THRAK)
The sound gets too cluttered at times in stereo, while the surround gives everything its space.
The weird percussive antics of Jamie Muir work particularly well on the surround mix of Larks'

:)

Did you know that Jamie Muir became a monk? Wild. Thrak is the most unique surround mix I know. Dual stereo drums: front & back. Like ol' school quad, turn't up to 11. Dayum.

Aww hell, WOOO! now listening: Thrak

Gosh!

Not sure about others, but I absolutely LOVE the way Mike Oldfield's RETURN TO OMMADAWN sounds. So, rich and full of great instrumentation. I'm impressed personally. Got home from conferences tonight and it was in my mailbox. :)

I gave my old DVD-A version of Chicago V a spin earlier. Now I'm listening to the Quadio BD-A version. Both have their merits, but I love the funkiness of the Quadio. Anyway...Chicago's music is so good. I guess I'll have to get the new Chicago II remastering by Steven Wilson after all.@:

Just curious, Gene, where did you buy your copy from?
