Alan Parsons Project - Eye In the Sky (Upmix)... sounds great, but I'd love to hear a true discrete mix!

Wouldn't we all? If any APP albums are going to be released in surround sound this year, it's going to be "Eye in the Sky" and/or "I, Robot" since those albums are celebrating their 35th and 40th anniversaries this year.

:)

Van Zant - Brother To Brother (Dual Disc)

Mark (or anyone interested)...

if you don't already have this, here's a good country/southern rock album with a decent mix.

Check Alan Parsons latest facebook Q&A post and you will get excited - I did atleast ;)

"We are working on Eye in the Sky in 5.1 for a release in a box set later this year"

A bit of Tull

My first purchase of one of these 1970s quad mixes from Deutsche Grammophon that has been released by Pentatone.

This sounds amazing! If the rest of this "Remastered Classics"
Series is this nice? I'm in! So many surround classical
mixes are mostly just ambient rears. This is really, really good.

Did I misunderstand the liner notes or were these not even released in quad at the time?

You didn't misunderstand the notes. DG never released the Quad versions of these recordings...only the stereo mixes. Pentatone's other SACDs of the Quad recordings by Thomas Mowrey are good as well.

According to our fellow QQer Luukas, Thomas Mowrey said Deutsche Grammophon recorded EVERY SINGLE ALBUM IN QUAD between 1970-1976. Unbelievable, isn't it! So yes, I can certainly understand why you feel you're misunderstanding something. Geez! These record labels are something else! I'm still scratching my head.@: @: @:

BLACKFIELD - V

MLP 96/24 Multi-Channel Blu-Ray Audio

One of my favorite songs...Lonely Soul

I haven't had a chance to even listen to samples of Blackfield-V, how would you or other QQ'rs describe the content? For some reason I passed on other Blackfield discs, can't remember why.

Blackfield V- Been soaking the cd of this one up all week in my car, and have grown to love the album. Wasn't blown away at first... kept waiting for some kind of epic solo; after a while, though, the beauty of the compositions and melodies snuck up on me and I couldn't get the songs out of my head! An album that works best played as a whole, IMO... no flashy solos and the songs are generally short and simple, but very beautiful mellow rock. The surround mix is discrete and enjoyable.

Well for starters, "Blackfield V" is much better than "Blackfield IV".

Richard Thompson-The Old Kit Bag. DVDA dual disc

Very discrete for a Silverline, and super music from Richard. This was one of their last releases at Silverline.

I looked for this exact title, after seeing this post. Amazon 3rd party seller "theconneXion" had it listed under the Dualdisc listing for $19+$3.99 shipping. I emailed him and within seconds he confirmed it was not the Dualdisc.

So - an honest mistake? Seems unlikely, but who knows. Who sells the standard CD for $19? (the standard CD on Amazon is $9.99) I told him he needed to move it from the dualdisc listing as people wanting DD won't be happy.

Received yesterday Talking Heads Naked, Speaking in Tongues, Little Creatures and True Stories CD+DVD's so listening now in no particular order but sounding good so far!

Waited a long time to buy this one. Columbia Kind of Blue SACD. If you're not in a melancholy reflective mood when you begin to listen, you will be afterward. Worth it!

Bob has the room. I had thought the vocals were prominent center but they're front left and right. Bob Dylan Slow Train Coming SACD.

Selections from "Foxtrot" by Genesis (Specifically "Watcher of the Skies" and "Supper's Ready"; DTS 96/24 5.1 surround on DVD-V)
