...you sure are making the most of your remaining time on the forum...are you going to be able to check out the forum at all when you deploy...I mean even a war torn country has the internet...just saying....you will be missed dude(y)

I can pop in now and then, I'm sure. Listening to surround? Fat chance.
I have 1/2 a mind to pack my logitech 5.1 system in a footlocker or something, but I'd still need a computer to play FLACS through or something and my main system died a while back.
Between deadlines at work, new baby, pre-deployment training all over the country and a college class, I have had very little troubleshooting time. :(
Alas, I'll take my trusty pair of Sennheiser headphones and listen to some great music, but I'm afraid surround enjoyment is going to have to wait.

I will miss you all too!

Can's Flow Motion album was recorded with the 'Artificial Head System' and sounds surround-ish over headphones, there must be a few other albums too - fizzy will know of some I'm sure!

Check in when you can with us on QQ, and maybe in your 'spare' time you can get some musical ideas for a new album?

Listening to the set list for the upcoming Styx concert this Sunday upmixed into surround via specweb (except for the songs from "The Mission" which were upmixed by hand by someone with real skills... the "old-fashioned" way... and sounding wonderful!!!). The whole family is going (Styx is one of the few bands we all love)...this is going to be GREAT!!

Think I'll start my evening off with a little ...QUAD

Santana - Caravanserai.

One of their best discs in my Santana quad collection . Elements of the mid-east mixed with latin jazz and blues/rock .:D(y)

And I'll muck my way through this jewel of Sony/Bmg tunz in quad thanks to A.F. In retrospect the lone Dylan tune from his Nashville Skyline quad album is indeed the best song, from that album and maybe this collection.
But there are other jewels on here (Miles Davis), and the soul R&B songs. (y)

The Collection -SACD 4.0

Menu item.

Mahavishnu Orchestra -Birds Of Fire QUAD

-side two....er half way through......Billy Cobhams Drum solo in " full circle surround " picks up the action quite nicely.

I like this one too...my only problem with it is that almost half the tracks are recycled from previous releases ("For The Love Of Money", "That Lady", "3+3", "Definitely Maybe", "Watermelon Man", "Birds Of Fire"). I get the feeling that AF originally intended to put more new stuff on here and were foiled by licensing issues- Jon notes in the Rock On poll thread that the title track from that album was once planned for inclusion on this disc.

But the new stuff is really a treat- Miles, BoC, EWF, Harold Melvin, and Dylan. I would've loved to hear each of the albums those tracks are sourced from, especially Bitches Brew and Tyranny & Mutation.

The remaining 3 tracks- all from RCA quads- didn't do much for me. "Grazing In The Grass" isn't much of a mix, the channel layout on "Peter Gunn" is screwed up, and "Without You" just isn't a good representation of the Nilsson Schmilsson quad mix.

Yes a poor representation of RCA surround....they really should have picked "Jump Into The Fire " from Nilsson or something from Pussycats I think.
Too bad they didn't follow up with a second or third COLLECTION .....and include some of WEA'S quad catalogue......Jackson Browne comes to mind.

But there are some absolute stunners in the WEA catalogue overall. (I would of been just happy to get a second Sony/BMG , though).:D
