Metallica - Quebec Magnetic BD-V in 5.1... forgot how great this one sounds, surrounds are very busy for a concert. It’s hitting 102 dB at only -20 volume and it doesn’t sound compressed in the least... awesome concert!

Saw your Metallica post in another thread, reminded me to blow the dust off of this one. For sure, send the dogs upstairs (will ruin my ears, but not theirs;)) then crank it up... when that happens, Nothing Else Matters:music

Perfect Angel - Minnie Riperton (SQ LP)

another one i just cannot til now find the Q8 of (for love nor money, nor "for the love of money"! :D ) but at least the decoded SQ record seems to make more than a decent fist of it! that often 'heroic' yet fuzzy lead electric guitar is many times prominent in rear right, as is the unmistakeable harmonica of "El Toro Negro" himself.. keys and bass 'seemingly' rear left (pretty sure i detect some acoustic guitar in rear left and tinkley keys in rear right during this album's big hit; "Lovin' You").. it appears Minnie - the main event - is upfront, some other stuff is kind of a little bit SQ-fudge-y but still yummy fudge all the same, the vinyl pressing itself sounds rather nice.. i'll continue to enjoy and be grateful to Involve for their decoding technology voodoo magic that has enabled us to get these kinds of results from the 'lowly' SQ format, thanks yer Aussie Quaddies, keep it up! :upthumb

Please, Please Dutton Vocalion, release this treasure in QUAD SACD????

that would be wonderful..!! seems unlikely since Universal (edit: Capitol?) have just done a Deluxe Ed'n of "Perfect Angel" (without the Quad, of course... :( ) but you never know! DV could do Minnie's other Quad "Adventures In Paradise", a different type of album and mix but still very Quaddy and very funky!! :p

Loreena McKennit's Nights From the Alhambra DVD. Three surround records in a row, that's a miracle in the last months!
This is another example of a recording sounding magnificent on Dolby. Bob Ludwig's mastering may have something to do... This DVD deserves a Blu-ray release (assuming it was filmed in a decent Res) with lossless audio too.
Loreena's full catalog will be amazing in surround, but I guess we will never see it.

Henry Mancini & Doc Severinsen - "Brass, Ivory & Strings" DV SACD... GREAT separation and fidelity on this album... nice mellow Sunday morning vibe... I think I'll start creating an "Easy Listening Surround Playlist" with lots of Dutton Vocalion stuff, maybe some Carpenters and Bread... ahh, I'm getting sleepy already:chill

SFA-Lovecraft SACD......Cabin Fever sounds at times like it could've been a Pink Floyd song.

Fleetwood Mac-DVD from the whizbang edition...vocals just jump out at you..better strap in before you listen for the first time...this is the Mac I remember...I wish it would have sounded this good "back in the day"(y)

Just finished watching Joe Bonamassa Live At Radio City Music Hall.Concert Blu ray 5.1 mixes don't get much better than that imho.
