Petey’s upstairs with mom That’s been one of the best things about aging, bringing different types of music into my life I may not have listened to years before, while still holding on to the tried and true ones I’ve loved since being a teenager. The only problem now is it can get very expensive to have a wider selection of music I need to buy! Anyone else aging this way???

dts.wav cds - The only needle drops I have are stereo. But that Desire album (I believe only available in Quad as SQ-LP) sounds great to me. If this is still owned by Sony, a 7" SACD would be more than welcome! Looks like MFSL put out a stereo SACD in 2013, I'm thinking of trying to find one of those.

Yep, SQ-only, just picked up an unfortunately rather crackly copy recently. I would guess the reason for no Q8 is the extreme length. Side 2 barely has room for the run-out! CBS probably didn't want to waste money manufacturing a two-tape set for a single album. Just a theory...

It is indeed a nice mix, much more modern-sounding than the uber-discrete drums-in-one-channel Nashville Skyline mix. I agree it would be be an epic 7-inch release...

I got my first start into the world of surround with a little Samsung all-in-one DVD player with 5 satellite speakers and 8" sub combo with films originally, but I still remember my very first time when I realised that 'surround music' was not just some reverb added in the rears, 'imbiggened' fake surround bullshit, but was in fact the original separate tracks spread intelligently around the room, naturally expanding the original without just faking a big room with reverb. That first album for me when the light first came on and I realized what was really happening, and how amazing that revelation was:
