Ayreon “Into The Electric Castle” (Quad conversion from 5.1 DVD) - listened to the ENTIRE thing last night (105 minutes) and now doing it again. One of the best surround releases ever.
I finally managed to listen to it today from start to finish (I've never got past track 3 then past track 7 before giving up due to getting interrupted by work calls!), its brilliant, great music, excellent surround mix.Ayreon “Into The Electric Castle” (Quad conversion from 5.1 DVD) - listened to the ENTIRE thing last night (105 minutes) and now doing it again. Is there a Poll for the 5.1 DD DVD of Ayreon's “Into The Electric Castle”? I can't find one, and I was actually going to post & vote!
Michael Brecker-Pilgrimage...I haven't listened to this one recently....but it's a good one...Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny are excellent...and Jack DeJohnette on the drums puts in a full day's work
this would be right up Pupster's alley
Yes, and it sounds good!So this surround is Dolby Digital 5.1?
Yes, and it sounds good!
Great music lovers think alike, just listened to that yesterdayOk...another one from the Heads Up collection...a band I loved in my laser disc days...Yellow Jackets-Altered State...
you and me BOTH, nene!!You are right my man; been procrastinating on this one a long time (excellent players & nobody better IMO than Michael Brecker), just gotta hunt one down at a "reasonable" price
Not discrete at all and a lot of weird phasing burps.. methinks this was not recorded as well as it could have... great performance and of course, spectacular stuff!!!
I'd rather have the surround mix in DD than none at all. The Aryeon 5.1 DD sounds great. I think its down to the person doing the Mastering/Encoding for Dolby, if they understand the 'medium' and its faults/limitations, plus they are used to doing music not films/movies, they do a good job. If they don't I think it ends up as Dulby and doesn't sound good. Its like recording in digital or analogue form, you have to know what you're doing, the two 'behave' differently in extremis. I have some good/great sounding DD and some bad. DTS is much more 'forgiving' and was designed with music in mind from the beginning. You don't know how much I love to hear that we have some DD haters on here...it makes me laugh sometimes because there are MANY excellent sounding DD recordings
