For the adventurous guitarist.
Unfortunately, a live recording with ambient rears - but classic Holdsworth.
If you're not a massive fan - save your money for something else you'd really want (like about 5 DVs!)

Haven’t listened to this blu in quite some time. Fidelity is very good..surround is typical concert type..still a great set of songs! They performed Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight entirely.

You know Gene, I don't own any Styx albums or even Surround titleso_O. I know I saw them in the 70's (I think they opened for somebody like Peter Frampton.) If you were to recommend a Studio Surround title of theirs; what would it be? And I might give it a tug - err wait, I mean give it a roll - um no... just give her spin!🥏

Just listening to Pink Floyd:- Wish you were here 5.1 SACD. For those who have both this version and the Blu ray how much better is the Blu Ray because the SACD is very good.

Good Question - thinking they might be same James Guthrie Mixes?? - except the bluray Immersion has the Quad mix too  Snood might be wrong

Welcome aboard Goona :rocks

Yes, the BD has the Guthrie 5.1 and the original '75 4.0. I prefer the 4.0. It's more discrete and adventurous. The 5.1 is more like big stereo with surround flourishes. Not entirely, but much info is replicated front to rear, IIRC.

They only have two surround releases, both more recent albums: Cyclorama and The Mission (as @edisonbaggins pointed out above). I love the music on The Mission, but I thought the surround mix was sort of meh. It's in the same style as the Electric Ladyland 5.1 mix with most of the music audible in all channels simultaneously. That's not to say there aren't also some good discrete moments. It's pretty cheap, so definitely worth picking up. I haven't heard Cyclorama.

There is said to be an unreleased quad mix of one of their classic albums, The Grand Illusion, but who knows if that'll ever come out.

Thanks guys for the comments. I also watched your review Mike and liked the comments about phantom centers in rears or others which I always enjoy hearing, and I don't think gets incorporated enough into surround titles to good effect. Even though I enjoy the JSP SACDs; they tend to stick the instruments hard to the corners which just seems unimaginative (almost lazy) mixing. In contrast I really enjoyed what Steve Wilson did with JT This Was, where I heard some good phantom mixing between the FL & RL channels. So overall I'll go ahead and give this one a try (while we wait for the next big surround release from... somebody!) Fingers crossed. And Jonathan I'm in agreement with you about ELL; I still struggle to really like some of that one. Just goes to show that a really first class surround title that has a 9-10 consensus with us bunch of fanatical surround travelers is hard to come by! Party On🥳

I saw Styx open for Bad Company or was it the other way around? Anyone else see that tour back in the 70's?

Heck, it might have been Bad Company; I have a lot of my concert stubs saved I'll need to deep dive into them and see who they played with. Way too long ago, and was probably slightly altered at the time also;)
