If I have the time to sit down and listen to music and post in here about it, then you can be just about guaranteed that I'm havin' a few beers n' bowls at the time, sometimes almost too much of each. :smokin🍻 They all three go together quite nicely. Amazing album and surround! :LB

Boz Scaggs Dig 5.1 MLP 96k 24b: discrete elements, nice low end and sound quality. Continues to be in the mid term rotation. Get On The Natch might not be for everyone but given the quality context, it's no issue for me, in fact it's a wall shaker. And with a follow up like Desire, we should always be so fortunate.

I saw Styx open for Bad Company or was it the other way around? Anyone else see that tour back in the 70's?
It was Styx opening for Bad Company. Styx was by far the better band at this concert. It was at Maple Leaf Gardens. Styx had just released Equinox. they put on quite the energitic show. Felt like Bad Company were just going through the motions. Remember the concert well

Now this is what I call radical separation!

I've merged the two 2.0 Dolby Digital tracks - one with the band only and one with the orchestra - into one 4.0 FLAC file in Audacity, and it worked! Unfortunately this blasphemous psychotic waltz through this cacophony lasted only two songs plus intro before my Oppo cycled itself in a loop madhouse, something I've never experienced before.
Well, go for it if you dare, but you've been warned! Oh, and make sure to lower the rears, for my hot taste -5.5 db wasn't enough. Here's the original waveform before volume adjustment:

Well over the last two days I've managed to play catch-up and listened to some of the unopened surround albums sitting in the to listen to pile, there are a few!
So my seating position is 'as SACD suggested', so about 3/4 of the way from the fronts and 1/4 from the rears, I haven't manipulated any levels.

So after a single listen, in order,

Dream Theatre "Distance Over Time" - love the music on the album, fidelity is good, and the surround mix is to me front centric but supportive so things do happen in the rears, at times its immersive, and at times very front. All in all not brilliant but not bad. :LB
Sytx "The Mission" - again love the music (I already had the CD), fidelity is good, and I really liked the surround mix. A real plus. All their albums from Equinox onwards in surround mixed as per The Mission please! :QQlove

Rush "Hemispheres" - love the music, I don't find the fidelity that good, and the surround mix is utter sh*te. A waste, this could have ben a really great surround release, the music warrants it. But we got the odd special effect in the rears and nothing much else. Why did they bother? I won't...........
