I have been wanting to purchase this for a long time and now with the exaSound38 I was able to get this multi channel DSD64 5.1 recording at $75.00 and almost 11 hours of music. I would have never purchased this except for the fact I was there. My friend Brandon and I went to Salina, Kansas for a lost weekend at The Crossroads. My one and only trip. We got to go in the Acoustic Sounds warehouse, we hung out with Chad, listened to record demo's, they still pop and click even on a good rig, I don't like records.
Anyway, the music in the old church was fantastic with these Blues cats. We got to hang out with them downstairs. Bernard Allison, son of Luther Allison was the closer but never made it to the recording, probably contract stuff. There was an after hours party at the local hotel for more blues music and meeting some nice people.
This recording is live, not studio discrete, but you can hear the wonderful acoustics of the church through the 5.1 speakers. I guess I am lucky because Acoustic Sounds has never sold a live recording At The Crossroads before or after this October 17 & 18 2014 show.

Blues Masters at the Crossroads. Produced by Acoustic Sounds, a global audience returns year-after-year to worship the blues at Blue Heaven Studios in Salina, Kansas. For the first time we're presenting six sets recorded live in 2014 at Blues Masters at the Crossroads Oct. 17-18. And it's the first live blues concert recorded entirely in Direct Stream Digital (DSD) — and available for the first time as a multichannel DSD download!

Sorry you didn't get to see the young Allison Mark, you know his dad was the very first live act I ever saw? His dad could really rip it up!

I did see Bernard, he just didn't make it on this recording. Bernard did rip it up, he was fast and heavy, super great. My friend who is from Arkansas did see Luther back in the day and when we talked to Bernard he told him that. Bernard and his band did show up at the after party but he didn't stay, said he had to get on the bus for another gig.

Fantastic tale Markie. Must've been a wonderful experience. What was Chad like and did you fill his ear [hopefully] with ideas for multichannel releases ......?????? I hope you also mentioned QQ forum and it's loyal followers.

I spent 16 months in Kansas in the US Army ..... and although it was desolate ... I do miss the hours of driving with NO TRAFFIC.

Glad you had a GREAT time ..... and 11 hours of DSD 5.1 BLUES RECORDINGS.........that makes you an honorary member of:

Chad of course was a very cool cat, easy to talk to, BUT-he really pushed the vinyl thing and almost snubbed his nose at discs. Probably from a money point of view pressing his own records, and even getting licensing for records is a lot easier than MCH.

FLAT OUT EXCELLENT. Not only is the Royal Opera House a superb venue but the video, if you wish, can just be turned off and you have an excellent Pet Shop Boys Greatest Hits discrete surround experience in 24/48 with ass kickin' bass.

But be sure not to miss the stage show in all its glory. Tennant and Lowe are at the top of their game.

Super stoked to watch/listen to this. Just bought it on a whim, not knowing you esteemed folks views on it. Was a big fan of PSB, back in the 80's. Haven't listened to them in decades. And of course "ass kicking bass" almost always does it :p.

Ralphie turned me on to Hiromi- Brain in 2014 and one of my favorites. For all you jazz cats out there Hiromi is a must. At the same time I was turned on to Telarc recording studios, and they do not do wrong, I have quite a few Telarc's, lots of jazz and blues, and all are great. They even have some cheesy fun ones.
This disc is SACD 5.1. Super Duper Discrete Surround, I promise you will love it. DSD 256. DR ranges from 14-18 per track.

Speaking of Hiromi, Markie, although NOT multichannel, Universal Japan did release three Hiromi titles on single~layered STEREO SHM~SACD ... and all three were DSD recorded! They decode exceptionally well through my Meridian pre/pro SUPER mode....for that thrilling fake surround experience!
