Anybody notice that “Gil Evans” and “Svengalil” have all the same letters?

Sir Willard White THE PAUL ROBESON LEGACY {Linn Records/Multi~CH SACD} Jazzy interpretations of the great tenor/social activist Paul Robeson in Linn's customary audiophile sonics. A very nice surprise!

I thought so too. As with most Linn productions, the surround mix is nothing special. And the performances can strike a modern ear as a little stuffy. (But then again, so can some of Robeson's originals!) Still worth having, especially at $3.95!

A major Robeson box-set retrospective coming out next month. ImportCDs has the best pre-order price. Story about it on NPR's Morning Edition:
