Just saw this thread. My list of 5x is far too long, unless it was just cinema viewings! Only kidding I think 3 or 4 is most times I've returned to the cinema to see films
Let's start with 20+ viewings
Vertigo
Sans Soleil
Apocalypse Now
Koyaanisqatsi
The Terminator
Blade Runner
Robocop (1988)
Alice In Wonderland (1951)
Rear Window
Un Chien Andalou
Entr'acte
Carry On Up The Khyber
2001
Once Upon A Time In The West
Sherlock Jr.
Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life
Five from that list have been watched in the last 6 months, since (and because) I made the leap to 5.1. Another three have also been watched in that timespan, despite a lack of multi-channel interest.
I'm not convinced that multiple viewings are necessarily a marker of greatness; I can name plenty of films I've only seen once that could compete with or better the above and even others that multiple viewings might diminish the impact or enjoyment. However, this list represents an intimacy that comes from having viewed films repeatedly across the decades. These, at least, are fellow travellers whose paths I hope to cross again some time soon.
