Santa Joe was very good to me for Christmas:
Blu-Ray-A of Suppertramp - Crime of the Century
3 Blu-Ray-A deluxe 5.1 box of Allman Brothers at Fillmore East
2 Blu-Ray/1 DVD/2 CD deluxe Quadrophenia Live in London w/5.1 mix of entire '73 Quadrophenia album
Blu-Ray Elton John - The Million $ Piano

Bryan Adams - Reckless on Blu Ray.

A big sounding mix and done very well. Just a shame that Universal seem to never get the content right with these things.

Supertramp "Crime Of The Century" sadly only in 2.0, it would be very good in 5.1. Its one of my favourite albums. I'm not sure what to make of it, I've only listened to the PCM (label says 24bit/96KHz), but it sounds a bit 'thin', lacking in midrange. It is a 40 year old recording I suppose, but which generation of Master did they use I wonder? I'll avoid the SHM-SACD if it ever appears as I would expect they'll just generate the DSD from whatever was used for the Blu-Ray. It was £14.50 rather than the initial release price. But, it could do with being properly re-mixed and into 5.1.

YES - "The Yes Album" - CD + Blu-ray

Sadley, the copy I ordered had to be returned to Amazon due to a defect on the BD. I was able to play "Yours Is No Disgrace" and half of "Clap" before the disc would pause. Upon inspection, I found a concave pit in the plastic substrate. I could get it to play half of "I've Seen All Good People" through to the end but decided to wait until a repurchase. From what I did hear, it is much better sounding than either "Close To The Edge" & "Relayer", for which I have still not voted on. I should be able to listen to it when it's delivered on Sunday. :)

TFF- SFTBC!!!

That reminds me. I bought this long ago, like two weeks or so, and it never showed up. WTF. Looks like maybe they put it in a canoe and are still paddling across the lake .

Dude, that is freaky. I ordered mine from Beaches Entertainment through Amazon on the exact same day at the exact same time as you (4:05pm). My tracking results look exactly the same except for the tracking number. I actually contacted them a couple of days ago and received this response:

Hello,

I am terribly sorry to hear that. We had received similar complaints from other buyers whose items had been shipped out on December 22nd and sent an email to our shipping partner regarding this issue the other day. They responded to us this morning and, unfortunately, they appear to have been experiencing a delay due to the holidays and the shipment from the 22nd was only entered into their system today. Thus, while your order has not been lost and is on its way to you, I am afraid it will likely not reach you by January 5th as previously indicated. May we offer you a refund of your shipping costs?

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the great inconvenience.

I am amazed at the sound of this album. I won't bemoan the lack of surround as it prolly didn't exist in multi track tapes. The fidelity and stereo separation more than rival the Capitol LP's of the material and the outtakes and unreleased songs are just gravy! Well worth the $20 at amazon.ca

Quite a few were 3-ch recordings, fwiw.

Have you tried the AP SACDs? Particularly the SACD set of The Nat King Cole Story? I prefer the sound on those.. to hear those vocals pristine in the centre, full of character, emotion, expression, nuance.. just glorious.. and uber cool :)

You can also get The Extraordinary Nat King Cole in a Stereo DSD Download. The Nat King Cole Story is mastered to be warmer than the Extraordinary NKC album. But Extraordinary does have some unique selections on it. True fans may want to buy both! :)

I've happy to have both for song selection options but soundwise those 3-Channel SACDs are something else!
