I'm stressed and exhausted. I purchased new PC and lost a lot of connectivity with software, which is no big deal, it's just reloading through various websites to my Desktop, etc.
I can find the Synology DSM station, all is working fine, but for the life of me I cannot find my Synology NAS on the network on both my PC's, and they are critical needs.
If anyone has links to share that would be great. I have looked at enough tutorials I'm busted.

Also if you have a link to share for the Sonore ripper. I can get the desktop up with the IP address is goofed up.

Also my Ethernet won't hook up on the new PC. Worst thing is I have done on my own before with no issues Windows 10, this new is Windows 11. But my music only PC is Windows 10, nothing changed there, I still can remote access, JRiver all there, just can't play back anything cuz it is disconnected from the NAS.

Worst case I have Geek Squad come to my house.

QNAP NAS uses a qnap pc app to mount the NAS on a PC. I would assume Synology would have something similar, though without ethernet you won't get to the point of mounting the NAS. Perhaps updating the drivers on the Win 11 PC and / or swapping the ethernet cable may help.

By default Windows assumes you're in a Starbucks with your computer and sets the network type to 'public', make sure your network type is set to private. Then on top of that there's possible Windows Firewall and sharing settings that may need to be relaxed/adjusted depending on what other device(s) you're trying to work with on your network and their age, etc. 99% of the functionality in Windows 10 still exists in 11, but it may need to be dragged there kicking and screaming.

Could it be linked to SMB (Server Message Block) file sharing, especially on a new Windows 11 based PC, see
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com...-with-smb-in-windows-11-24h2-may-fail/4154300

I'm still on W10 but I had an issue some while ago where I suddenly stopped seeing my NAS, and had to make sure I had enabled SMB on my Synology, go to Control Panel on your NAS

Thanks guys, I'll do all that when I get home, at work now. This is how it used to read from the Nas.
I like moving forward but the 11 is a bit tricky.
Also the OneDrive complicates things.
To top it off I turned off my large back up battery just before I left to go to work and it fried itself.
I went to Best Buy and bought a new one.
One of those days.

I also upgraded to Windows 11. It has been nothing short of a cluster FUQ so far.

I have to laugh Gene. The minute I started this the only person I thought of was you.
I said, "me and Gene we run pretty much neck and neck when it comes to the computers, we surprise ourselves how well we do, but when it's bad, it's bad".
:SB😭

100% accurate. I can really suck at times.

Check your NAS IP Address, it’s probably changed. The Synology Assistant will find it at tell you it’s IP.

Then you can log into it from the Assistant and try and change it back to its old value, or do that on your router. But you should now set it to fixed address in your router so this doesn’t happen again.

If you can’t change to NAS IP you’ll have to create a new drive mapping on your old pc to the NAS using the NAS’s new IP Address.

Wait you’re saying you can get to the Synology web interface but not mount it as a drive in Windows? Sounds like 100% a Windows issue around firewall / local network access / enable Windows file sharing as others have suggested/

I don't have a commercial NAS unit, wish I could help you out. These other guys seem to know their way around them though.

As far as network connectivity between my pc's on the same subnet, same router, Windows still sucks at it after all these years.
I pretty much have to map drives between the pc's because each won't show in the other's network. Used every fix there is AFAIK.
Funny because the TV, Oppo, AVR are always right there to see.

But as was said I think, check the pc's network settings, set for Private Network, password file sharing off, set static IP in Windows for any pc's on the LAN. Share folders. Enable SMB 1 in Windows, maybe for NAS also NFS? not sure on that.
I use a NFS file server for the Oppo so I have all that enabled.

Thank you all for your help!
Check List-just like working on the car.
New PC operates well, the reason I purchased new.
Replaced blown up battery back up.
Just by coincidence I had Best Buy come out and reconfigure two Universal Remotes, upstairs and down stairs yesterday as I have changed and deleted some equipment for TV and audio. Works like a charm.
Yesterday fried my brain so bad, I slept 10.5 hours because I didn't sleep the night before. Today, I will stay calm and take baby steps.
Things to do:
1. Why is my old ethernet cable not being acknowledge by the new PC (wireless works). Took it to store and ethernet works fine. Switch with two other ethernet cables in works fine. Have two new ethernet adapters coming today and will try a new ethernet line, have plenty laying around.
2. My Synology Assistant detects, the DS Finder detects, I am able to load the DSM page.
Maybe you can help me from here? Why is it not secure? How can I get this PC to recognize and my music player PC with JRiver to recognize the NAS?

Open the Control Panel on the NAS via the web portal above, and check that the settings are as in https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/fo...ocating-sonore-sacd-ripper.36923/#post-824994

If the settings are correct (I suspect they are), then you may need to enable the SMB option on your new PC, not sure where you'd find that. Windows 10 did an update and removed it from mine, so had to reinstall! There is now a more secure version which I would assume W11 has, but something may also need to be updated on your Synology NAS to ensure compatibility.

I found this, it might help https://robertwent.com/blog/mapping-a-synology-nas-drive-in-windows-11/

If your running two PCs on the same network and also want both PCs to have access to the Synology drive, you may need to invest in an inexpensive switch that you can connect to your router and then connect your devices (PCs and NAS) to the LAN ports on the switch. The switch will then assign IP addresses to each device connected to it and all will be connected to your network. Run Synology’s DSM again to locate the NAS with its new IP Address. Then map the NAS drive to to each computer. I just went through a similar issue and the switch was the solution for me. Got my 8 port switch on Amazon for about $25. Hope this helps !

One solved-Ethernet connection.
I kept rebooting router-no luck.
Rebooted switch-yes works.
Even though my other 2 connections on switch never stopped working?
Need to get outside and breath some air.

I am starting to feel confident that I will get the NAS on the network, that will be next, starting with your suggestions post #6. 🤞
