I just got another pair of Transparent Audio connects. All ready to hook up the new SM2(via stereo analog out) separate from the 4.2 (sub splitter)outputs on my Oppo 105.

By switching inputs on both my front and back amps, I should be able to switch easily between DVD-A/SACD discrete and SM2 Involve Surround.

Bring on the Surround Master 2!

Its 2 ways of getting to the same place - kind of. With the power switch off its just via relay contacts, with the stereo mode and power on its via our electronics. There is a level drop we cannot avoid at the moment but sound is perfect. Everyone in the office wants one including me as my Nakamichi dragon electrostatics are active and I can plug it straight into the new SM V2 (I don't have one yet!).

Is it easy to mod it so the relays feed a separate set of outputs instead of just bypassing the electronics using the same L-R mch outputs?

Huh???? Why?
I would guess many of the potential buyers would like to feed the phono preamp to the inputs of this device, feed the Quad/mch outputs to a 5.1 input of the receiver and feed the stereo output of the phono preamp through the relays to a stereo input of the receiver when the SM is off/bypassed.

If I ever succumb to getting one of these, that's the way I would like to set it up (also bypassing the individual channel pots and removing the knob of the digital volume control and use it only as an input level control for the ADC, but that is another matter).

I tend to see this processor as a decoder, but it goes beyond that. It could well be a stand-alone limited preamp.

Ahh, I understand. Believe it or not we are still working on the "super surround preamp" that will have all those bells and whistles. This SM V2 crosses a weird line somewhere between a simple decoder box and a pre amp.

It will happen, just overloaded with design......customers!

The best of success!

Can the mod be done easily?

Hi Surroundies
Dave the Bitch has just done an update on the SM V2, ENJOY!

Tell Dave we appreciate him taking the time to give us the great preview video and to you for taking the time to post it up on here. I'm going to at least ask if I can have the only SMV2 in the world signed on the bottom by you and Dave. If you don't ask, you don't receive ( I use that one on my wife occasionally for special favors, lol)

Actually you and Mark Anderson will share in that honour!

We will make a list!!

In the days of the Fosgate Audionics Digital Space Matrix Jim Fosgate & Peter Scheiber signed (actually silk screened) the PC boards. I think it would be awesome to continue that. I would be most happy for a felt tip marker signature on the bottom of the unit. Add my name to the list. Thanks!!!

We are arranging a silver marker pen......you are one more on the list!
