I wonder why he is opposed to releasing physical discs of Dolby Atmos mixes. Universal? Management? It really seems silly to have vinyl and cds released of the same albums, but not the surround mixes on blu-ray.It would never happen, but it would be sweet if they created atmos/5.1 bluray discs for everyone who purchased the big-bucks "McCartney Archive Collection" versions of the matching album. They have the buyer info if the original purchaser applied for and downloaded the high resolution files that were available with the code that came in each release.
Even for a substantial fee, it would be a "nice" thing to do, and create an instant collectable.
Sadly, as I said, it ain't gonna happen
It's mainly the labels pushing the streaming mode, much cheaper and no unsold inventory risk.I wonder why he is opposed to releasing physical discs of Dolby Atmos mixes. Universal? Management? The high resolution downloads must have been available for a very short time. I bought all of the archive collection, but at the time I was unable to download the hi res files. About a year or so after purchasing the last title (at the time), none of the codes brought up anything. It would never happen, but it would be sweet if they created atmos/5.1 bluray discs for everyone who purchased the big-bucks "McCartney Archive Collection" versions of the matching album. They are on the recent Atmos mix?...Oh I don't know....
Maybe he's apprehensive about the first 3 notes of BOTR getting omitted or something like that?
Yep. I can’t see how this is relevant at all to any future releases. No, the intro is fully intact on the Atmos mix.
Revolver did not have a physical release. The 1st beatles album that didnt. Also sgt pepper got a streaming atmos release but no atmos physical releaseI don’t see any reason to find McCartney apprehensive to surround releases. They’ve mixed a lot of his solo stuff for streaming we’ve had all the Beatles physical releases.
And you think McCartney was the guy behind saying “I want only streaming; not physical”?Revolver did not have a physical release. The 1st beatles album that didnt. Also sgt pepper got a streaming atmos release but no atmos physical release
I dont know that McCartney is behind it. I never said that, When Revolver was remixed there was an announcement made that there would be no physical release. Maybe it came from Giles? The Lennon solo stuff continues to flow out in surround, albeit in expensive deluxe sets, and the Harrison camp released Living in the Material WorldAnd you think McCartney was the guy behind saying “I want only streaming; not physical”?
I don’t think McCartney cares one way or the other and just nods his head with whatever the label wants to do with these decisions. If he was opposed to surround, we’d get none at all. If he was a huge supporter, we’d have them in every format.
