The good news is 5.1. But look at the price!

Thanks for the link...when one tries a simple search on amazon.co.uk this release doesn't come up. I ordered it and the price dropped to 127 pounds because of their pre-order guarantee. I suspect it will drop to 100 pounds by the time its released. Also; if a stand alone blu ray comes out before the shipping date one can always cancel the huge edition and get the more economical version

waaaayyyy too much vinyl fluffing the price to a level totally unacceptable.

Why do record companies carry on mixing digital and analoge they have predominantly two differeing fan bases.

and those minority fans who like both will buy both but putting both in an overproced box just limits sales on both sides.

Still expensive but at least it's a little bit of a better price on amazon.com

This is GREAT news that this album is getting a 5.1 surround mix! This album (besides "The Wall") was at the top of my list for a 5.1 mix as far as Pink Floyd albums go! Maybe soon we will also get a 5.1 surround mix of "A Momentary Lapse of Reason"!

:51banana:

Offering up a standalone 2LP set (which sounds like it's being done properly) but not the Blu-ray just seems really short-sighted and narrow-minded. If anything they're tempting piracy by doing this, people want standalone releases of the Blu-ray discs found in this one and the other two, and so far we've got none of them. It's totally bogus.

Totally agree with you on this. As much as I want the 5.1 the pricing on this will have me on the sidelines.

I just couldn't resist. I preordered the t-shirt LP DVD bundle for $90. Now I get to watch the price go down and regret it. Hopefully the 5.1 mix makes it all worth it.

There goes my surround budget for the year. :howl

What an utter waste of time. Let's gouge the fans for all they are worth! I completely ignored this album then and will now. I would be mildly curious to hear a 5.1 mix of this. For a reasonable price.

I love vinyl, but I will bet my entire Kenny Loggins collection that this is from a digital master. Even if it is completely from an analogue source I really don't care.

Where are the 5.1 mixes for The Wall, Animals, Meddle and Obscured By Clouds? I don't want huge box sets of repeats only to get a few dribbles of delight! Ugh! (n)

Done with the rant. Sorry to rain on the parade, but I feel much better now!:sun

I think your price is safe... It seems like these bundles are exclusive to the Pink Floyd store, so they probably won't change. So you went for the 49 Pound set, or the 57 Pound set? They're a bit confusing:

The title of the 49 Pound set doesn't mention a DVD, but its description does.
The title of the 57 Pound set does mention a DVD, and its description also mentions the Blu Ray.

Weird.

I went with the one that mentioned the DVD in the title. It was the cheapest option to get the surround mix. I hope I didn't miss a cheaper option.

After reading the descriptions on the Pink Floyd Store, I'm thinking that the DVD version is going to be DD or DTS. The Blu Ray version lists detailed versions including Hi Res and video. No detail of what is on the DVD except the 5.1 mix. I would rather have the Blu Ray, but not at the prices of the boxes that have it included. If they don't release a standalone Blu Ray, they will be missing a lot of sales by packaging it with all the junk. Will They Ever learn??

btw, the German description says that the Blu Ray contains "5.1 Dolby Surround Sound". That would be Dolby TrueHD then, no DTS-HD or PCM. Which might mean the DVD will be Dolby Digital. :-/

I won't buy unless the Blu-ray is released separately.

Text from the Pink Floyd store for the Blu Ray: Bluray with 5.1 Audio Mix, Surround Sound Mix, 24/96 Mix and New "Marooned" Music Video.

The DVD: Division Bell 5.1 Mix DVD

Looks like the Blu Ray is the one to have. I guess I'll just have to settle for the lossy mix.

Hey, actually, I think there's a good chance the set you ordered does include the BluRay! Think about it. There are 4 LP bundles in this store before the >£100 Deluxe sets:

  1. The Division Bell 12" Vinyl LP Album - £19.99
  2. The Division Bell 20th Anniversary LP Bundle - £37.00
  3. The Division Bell 20th Anniversary Deluxe LP Bundle - £49.00
  4. The Division Bell 20th Anniversary Deluxe LP Bundle w/DVD - £57.00

  • So the first one has the 2 LPs.
  • The second one has the 2 LPs plus a shirt.
  • The third one has the 2 LPs plus a shirt and some coasters. Possibly the DVD.
  • The fourth one has the 2 LPs plus a shirt and some coasters. Definitely the DVD. Possibly the BluRay.

I mean, if the third one really didn't contain the DVD, you'd pay 12 extra bucks for the coasters only. But hey, who knows, right?

Either way, I'm getting tempted to get the fourth one as well. I posted on superdeluxeedition.com to see if Paul Sinclair can find out some more details. He did some great investigative work for the Immersion sets and knows some people from the Pink Floyd crew.
