Very underwhelming and over priced. Another missed opportunity. I was hoping for more audio because a lot was left out.

Peace Be With You was dropped at the last minute as well as early versions of One Slip and Signs of Life. CDs are very cheap to produce. I can understand some of the omissions on TEY but not this time.

I'm not going to pay more than $300 for this. Hoping for individual releases. This may be the first time I don't buy a Pink Floyd release. I can understand the high cost of TEY with so much material and so many rights needed to be acquired. The band should own the rights to most of this stuff. Gilmour is very generous when it comes to charities but there is no charity for his fans.
The price is not set by the band.

oh i don't want to be a party pooper at all, this is a welcome new release and if it didn't include any surround content i'd be the first person to cry stink!! ...but as much as i want this, i just can't do it anymore, these boxes are now sadly too rich for my blood. breaking point was reached this year, i've half a dozen sets i haven't even opened yet and i know another year or two of buying these kinds of bonkers boxes and i'll be bankrupt!

also, at the risk of sounding like a stuck record comparing box set apples to DV oranges, seeing this set purely on surround sound value terms i feel its pretty poor; £400 buys a hell of a lot of DV Quad SACDs, over 30 in fact, all 2-fers and that'd be 60+ (yes, sixty!!) albums in surround!! when really what's new to me in this box in surround? 1 album? admittedly plus other cool stuff i'd no doubt enjoy.. if it was £200, maybe even £250, i'd have somehow found the money but £400 quid i can't justify (just to myself, i've no else to answer to anymore anyway!) but no, i'll have to reluctantly sit this one out.. until/unless a seriously discounted (like 50% or something!) offering comes up or (seems unlikely but you never know!) the 5.1 gets standalone release? 😔

So far the cheapest option seems to be importcds at 323 USD. First time customers can get a 10% discount on the first order.
Question is: how reliable are they? Does anybody have any experience with shipments to Europe? I'm scared to order from them and them cancelling at the very last minute or customers applying any crazy taxes.

yeah i bought a bit of stuff off them, last thing i got there was the GNR AFD super deluxe shmucks box set. it was the cheapest price at the time of ordering, arrived a tiny bit later than advised but it was in one piece.
well, it wasn't one piece exactly, it had a load of crap inside i didn't want apart from the 5.1 disc but it was fine! seriously, they've been ok 👌

Thanks much, Adam. Biggest risk source here, I guess, are customs, that tend to be a little random here in Spain.
Let me ask you another question: when do they charge your credit card? Can you cancel the order of found cheaper anywhere else?

Adam, I hear you. For me it's no so much the expense but wading through all the aural tsochkies and coffee table sized books to get to the beef [the 5.1 remixes]. Hopefully, as some surmise, the set will be broken down into manageable sub sets at more affordable prices like previous PF extravaganzas. Not to mention the space these sets CONSUME!

And you must have been royally pissed when the Gn/R store blew out AFD deluxe edition for under $40 [US price]!

anytime! 👍
customs are a bloody nightmare here now too, sad to say.
honestly its killing the whole music hobby for me because so much of the cool stuff comes from America, Japan, etc.. and with duty on top of anything over £15 it makes every import music purchase super expensive nowadays.

sorry man i don't recall, they probably took the money, almost everyone except Amazon does. i never cancelled anything from them so not sure of their policy in that regard either. somebody here will know for sure!

oh lots of stuff pisses me off these days, Ralphie.. but then i crawl into my room, plump up the cushions, put on my favourite (usually Winelight) record, pour a wee drinky and suddenly none of it matters - not one jot.

😘
