I don't think any of these reissues have been given standalone releases. It's not a new mix for the 5.1 so it's really just a bonus anyways in the set (similar to In Absentia and Deadwing).
Everybody here was talking about a new 5.1 2024 mix. Was I mistaken in understanding what they were talking about?
It's not a new mix but a new master. The 2007 mix, remastered.
I believe that's right. The menu only says 2024 mix and 2007 mix, IIRC. That would seem to imply two different mixes but....
It should say 2007 master and 2024 remaster not mix.

Given that Steven said that the original multitracks were unusable (old DAW format), there is essentially zero chance of him having completed a new/tweaked mix.

I was looking at the menu when I wrote it, all I can say. Not arguing the point.
I haven't even ordered this yet but I'm already hoping he eventually remasters the 5.1 mix of his first solo album Insurgentes. It's a bit brickwalled and he already remastered the stereo tracks for digital, CD & vinyl re-releases some time ago (DR went from 6 to 9, so it was a noticeable improvement). Plus it's my favorite 5.1 mix of his own music.

...that's my "fault"
I was asked to play test the 2024 5.1 master on a test BluRay before it went off for pressing, and fed back that although the dynamic range was (obviously) much better than the 2007 master, it had in my opinion lost some "positional balance" and immersiveness as a result of removing the compression.
Steven checked his master again and agreed with me, so he ran out a second remaster which is the one you now hear as the 2024 version, but he also decided at that point to include the 2007 master on the BD, which I thought was a great idea.
(...and yes, it's only been remastered, not remixed but it sounds loads better.

Neil, may you continue to be at "fault" testing blu rays! Indeed, apparently, The Doobie Brothers consulted a fortune teller years ago in the 70s and learned about you so many years later, thus their 1977 album "Livin' On The Fault Line".
